Fraser (Minnesota Marshalls #1) by Susan May Warren

Fraser Marshall is pretty sure his career as a Spec Ops fighter is over. Yes, he’s gone into private security, working for Jones, Inc, but his last gig ended with him wounded and taken captive. And those wounds just won’t heal. The last thing he wants to do is stick around his family’s winery pressing grapes. But what choices does he have?

The answer comes via a panicked phone call from his kid brother, Creed.

Help, Fraser. I’m in over my head…

Yeah he is, because he’s run away with a princess, with her bodyguard hot on the trail. And said bodyguard, Pippa Butler is going to hunt them down, no matter the cost.

Even if she has to join forces with a bossy, arrogant former American SEAL. But Pippa has her own set of lethal skills, and if Fraser gets in the way, she’ll leave him on the side of the road. Still, maybe he’s not a terrible side-kick. He is handsome, and he makes her laugh…

No, no, bad Pippa! She has no room for a man—an American—in her life. And Fraser hasn’t ever considered slowing down. Even if Pippa has him wondering if there is a different future ahead.

But there’s more to the story than a Romeo-and-Juliet runaway romance. Princess Imani has seen a murder, and the perpetrator isn’t going to let her get away. Will Fraser and Pippa find the couple first?

And if they do, can they work together to keep them safe?

It’ll be tough if their hearts get in the way…

In true Susan May Warren fashion, this story is full on, fast paced, heart pounding, edge of you seat excitement.  It really had me invested and anxious all the way through.

The first meet between Fraser and Pippa is literally shocking.  Haha.  It's definitely one to remember.  Forever.  Poor, poor Fraser.

Fraser and Pippa are both strong, smart and capable people.  I love how they learned that working together made them stronger.  They both have baggage and hard things to deal with but that never stops them from doing the next right thing.  They learned to trust each other and that was so satisfying.  I also loved the mending relationship between Fraser and Creed and the more trusting one that was formed between Pippa and Imani.  This author really does family/romantic relationships well.

This story has a halfway ending, with some resolution for Pippa and Fraser, but there is an overarching story that is continuing in the next book.  I can't wait!

Content:  violence, peril.  Moderate Christian Fiction elements.  Kissing.

Sundown (Sky King Ranch #3) by Susan May Warren

Former Delta Operative Colt Kingston knows when someone is lying. He may not know the truth, but he sure doesn't trust Tae, the woman who is caring for his ailing father at Sky King Ranch. Behind those beautiful blue eyes, he can tell there is a troubled--and smart--woman.

A few of her stories prove true--he's found the crashed plane and the dead body inside. Still, her story of survival seems too incredible to believe . . . until the thugs she claims to be hunting her show up and threaten Sky King Ranch. Now Tae must disappear, along with her secrets.

But Colt's not about to let her go it alone. And when they discover that her secrets include the antidote to a plague that threatens the world, it'll take all three Kingston brothers to save the country they've vowed to protect.

Susan May Warren brings her Sky King Ranch series to a climactic close with this high-stakes race against the clock.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

Wow, this Kingston family.  They are really something else.  What I love about this series is we get all the family in each book.  While each one may focus on one individual more than the others, they are all still there, part of the story and part of the family.  I feel like I know them and am connected to them.  I think it's pretty important to read this series in order.  There are individual stories within a growing, overarching story.

I was excited to get to Colt.  I knew there would be a lot to unpack there.  Between him and Tae, there is SO MUCH.  Colt is a jump right in kind of guy.  He goes with his instincts and is quick to defend and protect.  Tae really needs someone like him to depend on.  I loved how their story unfolds through the series and how it really gains momentum in this book.  It was so satisfying.

The story brings mystery, action, suspense, romance and danger on every page.  It is fast paced and exciting which is exactly how this author writes and I love it.  I've loved hanging with the Kingston family.  They aren't perfect, they are all fighting physical, mental and emotional demons but they are solid.  They are strong and they keep trying.  They stand up for right and they fight hard when they need to.  It's pretty awesome.

Content:  peril, violence, death.  Kissing.  Christian elements.

Wow, I feel so lucky to have been able to read all three of these books right in a row with no stopping.  Because honestly?  Stopping and waiting in between would have been the worst.  Epic story is right.  You can read them all in a row too because they are releasing, one per week for three weeks!

There is constant danger and action in this book which made it hard to breathe!  I was so caught up in RJ and York.  I adore them.  Separately and together.  We get to know them through the Montana Marshalls Series (which I would recommend reading first) and I love that they get their own epic adventure together all through Europe.  The places came alive and the emotions were heightened as York and RJ fight to stay alive and to save the world.  Again.  Yeah, Ruby drove me crazy a few times.  "I'll never leave York again."  Then she leaves.  "I'll never leave York again!"  Then she leaves.  Ay, ay, ay, Ruby Jane.  She is a jump in first, think later kind of girl.  But yeah, it usually works out for her.  York is a hero.  Plain and simple.  The very best kind of hero.

Hang on, buckle up, and get ready!  You are in for a ride!!  Block out plenty of time, too.  You won't want to stop reading!

Content:  violence, death, peril.  Christian themes.  Kissing.

Sunburst (Sky King Ranch Book #2) by Susan May Warren

When former Navy SEAL and lifelong bachelor Ranger Kingston is called upon to take part in a rescue mission to save his brother Colt, who has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria, he is shocked to find among the hostages a woman he knows and could never forget.

Noemi Sutton was attempting to return a young girl to her family in Boko Haram territory when she and the girl found themselves taken hostage, along with several others.

And while Ranger Kingston may be able to get the hostages away from their captors, he'll need Noemi's help if he ever hopes to get out of Nigeria alive.

Her solution? Pose as husband and wife. But when her uncle discovers the union, he insists on a traditional Nigerian wedding--binding Noemi to a man destined to break her heart. Worse, she's discovered the real reason she was kidnapped, and anyone around her is bound to be caught in the cross fire. Including her so-called new husband.

She'll need to figure out a way to leave the man she loves if she wants to save his life.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

Romantic suspense anyone?  It's one of my favorite genres and this author does it really well.  Sunburst is book two in this series that really needs to be read in order.  Each book builds on the storyline with the main focus shifting to different characters.  Just trust me and read this series in order.  😉

Right out of the gate we are thrust right into a dangerous hostage situation.  Well, first the prologue, which was very sweet and set things up romantically between Ranger and Noemi.  Then the dangerous situation.  It started in Africa and ended in Alaska, if you can imagine that.  The danger is pretty much a constant in this book as you start to feel the plot and the "bad guys" converging.  I love that we still have the whole Kingston family starring in this even as Ranger is in the spotlight.  Ranger.  So tough.  So tortured by things past and present.  So honorable.  I loved him.  Of course I did.

Noemi?  Probably equally as tough as Ranger.  She's definitely no stranger to loss and hurt yet she doesn't give up.  I loved the glimpse into the heritage and tradition of Nigerians.  It was so interesting.

I loved the momentum of this book because it just didn't let up.  It was either run for you life or emotional connections and that kept me invested the whole way through.  This book ends in an emotionally satisfying way for Ranger and Noemi but in a plot hanger, if you know what I mean.  The plot is still ongoing and I can only hope that these Kingston brothers can stay alive to see it all to the end!  They are smack dab in the middle of a very dangerous game.  I'm SO looking forward to the next book!!   Now to bring my heartrate back to normal. . .

Content:  peril, violence, death. Christian elements.  Kissing.

Sunrise (Sky King Ranch #1) by Susan May Warren

Pilot Dodge Kingston has always been the heir to Sky King Ranch. But after a terrible family fight, he left to become a pararescue jumper. A decade later, he's headed home to the destiny that awaits him.

That's not all that's waiting for Dodge. His childhood best friend and former flame, Echo Yazzie, is a true Alaskan--a homesteader, dogsledder, and research guide for the DNR. Most of all, she's living a life Dodge knows could get her killed. One of these days she's going to get lost in the woods again, and his worst fear is that he won't be there to find her.

When one of Echo's fellow researchers goes missing, Echo sets out to find her, despite a blizzard, a rogue grizzly haunting the woods, and the biting cold. Plus, there's more than just the regular dangers of the Alaskan forests stalking her . . .

Will Dodge be able to find her in time? And if he does, is there still room for him in her heart?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

Is it possible to be freezing cold just from reading a book?  Yes, yes it is.  This book is set in Alaska and man, I am so glad I don't live there!  I really don't think I could do it.  So. Much. Cold.  AND So. Many. Bears.  😨

I'm happy to be back into a new series by this author.  She really knows how to bring the adventure and danger into her books.  Her characters are humanly flawed but trying and not giving up which makes them so relatable and endearing.  Hurts definitely follow Dodge and Echo- between each other and with other people.  Watching them navigate those hurts and learning to forgive themselves and each other was satisfying.  I loved the pacing in this book and how it built in tension and purpose.  I can see the other stories forming from this one and I'm excited to follow this family through more adventures.

Content:  peril, violence, kissing.  Christian elements.

The Price of Valor (Global Search and Rescue #3) by Susan May Warren

USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren takes you on a global search and rescue mission where the stakes are higher than ever in this final installment of her popular series.

 * Amazon * Goodreads

Oh wow, was that an on the edge of my seat adventure!  I can't remember, did I even breathe while reading this book?!  I must have but seriously, it felt like I was holding my breath the whole time.  This story is fast paced and just doesn't let up.  I found myself surprised a couple of times and I really like that.

One thing I really like about this series is that it follows several characters in each book.  While this book give focus to Ham and Signe, Orion's and Jenny's continued story is going on as well.  There is so much going on.  Oh, and there were cross over characters from previous series as well!  That was fun!

I'm not sure I had a ton of emotional connection to the characters but I liked them a lot.  I felt invested in their outcome.  It's really hard not to like people who put so much on the line to save other people.  Heroes are the best kinds of characters.  Noble, brave, sacrificing everything.  Warren always gives her characters plenty of mental/spiritual/emotional growth which helps me feel like they are human with flaws even though they are pretty much saving the world.  It's always a good balance.

Is this really the end of this series?  Sad.  But I was sure grateful for the ending where happy endings reigned supreme.  It always feels good to reach a satisfying, positive conclusion.  I can't wait to see where this author goes next!

Content:  peril, violence, mention of rape, abuse and abortion.  Talk of God and religious elements.  Death.  Kissing.

The Heart of a Hero (Global Search and Rescue #2) by Susan May Warren

Rescuing Aria Sinclair is just what former SEAL Jake Silver needs in order to redeem his past mistakes. Keeping her distance from Jake is what Aria needs to protect her heart. As a hurricane turns paradise into peril, they must save themselves and others in this story of second chances and survival--and the cost of both.

I love the adventure and danger mixed with romance in Susan May Warren's books.  It really keeps things exciting and moving along at a fantastic pace.  This series, like some of her other more recent, has individual stories happening along with an over arching story line.  It's all connected but comes together a bit at a time.  I really love this approach because it keeps everything interesting.  It also means that you really must read these books in order to keep up with everything happening.

Jake is the kind of guy that runs straight into danger.  Literally.  It's as if he just cannot help himself.  He is a hero by all definitions and in this book, he was running into danger on practically every single page.  It made my heart weak.  haha.  I loved his strength and determination.  I loved his hero kindness.

Aria is so smart and although she is battling some pretty big demons, she really keeps things together for other people when it counts.   I loved watching her grow and accept herself.  I was glad to have met Jake and Aria in book one and know their history there because it laid the foundation of their relationship and gave understanding to how it progressed in this book.

I always end Warren's books satisfied and happy but eagerly awaiting the next book.  They just cannot come fast enough.

Content:  this is a Christian fiction book and has moments of stronger Christian themes.  Some moments of violence, peril, death, kissing.

- I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions expressed are my own.

The Way of the Brave (Global Search and Rescue #1) by Susan May Warren

Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure--and his injuries--has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones's elite rescue team, but he also can't shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.

Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun's yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she'll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes--the man she nearly killed.

Her skills and his experience are exactly what's needed to prevent another tragedy--but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They'll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?

It took me a bit to really get into this book. There are a lot of characters introduced quickly and it was hard enough to keep everyone straight at first let alone make emotional connections.  I can see that this story is laying the foundation for the series to come and there are many, many players in this game.  Each book will add a layer to an overarching story/mystery to be solved.  It's exciting to think about.

I have no idea how people willingly go into places like Denali where it's well below freezing, you can never get warm, you eat nasty things and seriously?  It's a death trap.   It absolutely boggles my mind.  But, welcome to a whole story of characters willing do this.  😳  A story of a whole group of characters who nearly freeze to death, starve, get altitude sickness, fall over cliffs, get injured, and almost die on more than one occasion.  Yup, it's one harrowing experience after another.  It's intense and my body was so locked up for half this book!  I had to remind myself to relax.

It was interesting to see how the different characters handled guilt and fear.  Not everyone responds the same in extreme situations which is what makes us human and individual.  I like how this author portrays that.

Meanwhile, Orion and Jenny come in contact after 3 years apart.  There are many things swirling around them from the past and it's all mixed in with some pretty yummy attraction.  I liked how things came together in the end and how I could feel the shift in not only the characters but the story line as well.  I'm looking forward to the next book!

Content: some violence, peril, death, kissing, Christian elements (a bit on the heavier side)

Continue the breath-taking Montana Marshall series!

 * Amazon * Goodreads *  B&N

Hurray for another book in this Montana Marshall series!!  The story keeps growing in strength and intensity as one book ends and another begins.  I love the fast paced, constant forward momentum that keeps me glued to the pages from beginning to end.  I really had a hard time putting this book down.

Wyatt and Coco have history- most of which has ended badly, repeatedly.  Honestly, I love Wyatt.  He's a bit different than the other boys in his professional decisions and how he grew up mostly outside of the circle of home but he definitely has that Marshall tenacity. Wyatt is persistent and just keeps coming after Coco like he can't live without her and he lays it all on the line.  He is fierce in finding and defending her.  <sigh>

Susan May Warren creates characters that are definable, interesting and imperfect.  These Marshalls make mistakes, they get knocked down, but they get back up again.  Over and over.  They keep trying.  I think that's what I love about them the most.

The plot has reach a point where all roads have converged.  The family is putting all the pieces together and the story has shifted from Russia back to the United States.  The next book is going to be a doozy!!  I'm so excited for it!

Content:  some violence, mention of intimate relations outside of marriage with no details, death, peril, kissing.  Christian fiction.

Ford (The Montana Marshalls #3) by Susan May Warren

Navy Seal Ford Marshall isn’t the kind to stand by and let a woman get hurt—especially when it involves his twin sister, RJ. So, when she makes the news, accused of sparking an international incident, he doesn’t care what it takes—he’s going to find her and bring her home.

But he might need a little help, so he calls on the woman who has had his back during the last three years—Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, former communications expert-turned Rescue Swimmer candidate. She’ll help him get into the country, watch his back, and…well, they might be able to have one last mission together before she leaves for a new life, a life he very much wants to be a part of now that she is off his team. Maybe he can convince her to give them a chance to kindle the spark that’s simmered between them for years.

Scarlett Hathaway isn’t sure what future she wants—not when she suddenly has to care for her little brother. Maybe she should quit the Navy and start a life with the man she can’t seem to get out of her heart. So yes, she’ll help Ford find his sister. And maybe, along the way, figure out if they have a future.

But finding RJ somewhere in the vastness of Russia with the FSB chasing them will push Scarlett beyond even her courage and make her question everything she thought she wanted…including Ford. What will it cost her to love a man who saves the world?

And when Ford is asked to choose between saving his sister, saving the world from a war, and rescuing the woman he loves…can he live with his decision?

Oooooh.  I think this might be my favorite of this series so far.  That is saying something because I loved Knox and Tate!  But Ford. . . Ford was, wow!  Intense, fast paced, full of danger, growing attraction and yummy kiss scenes.  Yup, I had a hard time putting this one down.  Maybe part of my extra love for this one was because I actually got TWO love stories in one.  RJ (Ruby) has her own story going in this book running parallel to Ford's as he tries to find her.  In Russia.  They eventually intersect but until then we have RJ and York, which was also so, so good.

The hardest part about this book is reaching the end and now I have to wait for the next book to see how things play out.  I hate waiting.  I'm feeling almost desperate but in the most amazing way.  I can't wait to read Wyatt!!

You really need to read this series in order.   If you haven't started it yet, you are in for a treat!

Content:  peril, violence, death.  Kissing.  Christian fiction.

- I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Tate (The Montana Marshalls #2) by Susan May Warren + $25 and Book Giveaway!

Bodyguard, Tate Marshall, has always been the family troublemaker. Maybe it's his impulsive propensity to get into the middle of problems that don't belong to him. But once in, he can't stop himself from trying to solve them and that includes his recent dilemma. He's in love with the woman he's supposed to protect, the beautiful Gloria, "Glo" Jackson, daughter of US Senator and presidential hopeful Reba Jackson. A member of the country band, the Yankee Belles, Glo was targeted in a recent terrorist attack designed to deter her mother from running.

Glo is as stubborn as her mother, and Glo isn't about to hide from threats, at least the kind that won't cost her heart. Because she's already paid a terrible price for the war on terror, and she can't let herself love a man who might die, especially because of her.

As the campaign heats up and the threats deepen, so does the attraction between Tate and Glo. But when they're discovered, and Tate is fired, what will he do to protect the woman he loves?

And what will Glo do to keep from losing another man to the costs of war?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

This is the second book in the Montana Marshalls series and you definitely need to read these book in order.  Although each book focuses in on one particular couple, the story line is continuing and believe me when I say you won't regret starting at the beginning.

I really love this fast paced romantic suspense series.  It's current, it's crackling with energy and growing intensity and it's got the romantic tension.  Tate is one tough guy who just doesn't give up.  He just keeps on fighting no matter what the circumstance.  You have to love a guy who just won't back down in the best of ways.  I loved his all in attitude with Glo despite her efforts to turn him away.

This is a book that is hard to put down!  I'm always looking forward to the next book by one of my favorites, Susan May Warren.  Luckily, the third book in this series, Ford, will be out in a few months.

Content:  violence, fighting, kissing

- I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions expressed are my own.

“He was sent here to kill you, wasn’t he?” Glo’s voice emerged in a whisper of horror.

Tate drew in a breath, and even Knox looked away as Tate nodded.

Oh, she knew it. Apparently, she had a type.

The kind of men who didn’t care what trouble—or death—might be waiting for them. Who turned their face to it and charged ahead.

The kind of men who died for what they believed in.

The kind of men who would break her heart.

Wait for Me (Montana Rescue #6) by Susan May Warren

Pete Brooks can't believe he's waited an entire year for Jess Tagg to return to Montana, only to have her break his heart by getting engaged to her ex-fiancé. Worse, a series of mistakes on the job have cost lives, and Pete isn't sure he wants to continue to work in Search and Rescue. Maybe if he can just get over Jess, he can figure out how to move forward.

EMT Jess Tagg has returned to Montana to finally give her heart to Pete, but it seems he's no longer interested. When a terrible fight between them sparks an impulsive decision, she finds herself crashed on the side of a highway along with Esme Shaw. And just when she thinks things couldn't get any worse, she and Esme are taken captive and into the untamed Montana wilderness—with murderous intent.

Now Pete and the other PEAK Rescue Team members are in a race against time, the elements, and the actions of a vengeful man. Pete will have to use everything he's learned to find Jess and Esme—and pray that his past mistakes don't cost him the life of the woman he can't stop loving.

Susan May Warren is one of those author that I am always following- watching and waiting for a new book to snag up.  She has such a way of writing characters and situations that keep me invested and interested from beginning to end.  I love the added elements of suspense and adventure that fill up my mind and keep me on the edge of my seat.  Every book, every series by this author is so good!

I have been waiting for this book with anticipation and bit of dread too.  It's the last book in this series which is awesome because all those loose ends were tied up nicely.  I have been looking forward to the resolution I knew this book would finally bring for the characters I've been attaching myself to in every book.  That felt really good.  The dread comes from knowing this series is officially over and now I have to leave these friends behind.  BUT.  I know there will be something equally great coming because this author and I can't wait to see what it is!

I would highly recommend reading this series in order.  You will be utterly lost if you don't. Each book revolves around multiple people who's stories build throughout each book progressively.

Storm Front (Montana Rescue #5) by Susan May Warren

A tornado has destroyed a small Minnesota community and among the missing are not only a group of students but PEAK Rescue team leader Chet King. Ty Remington will stop at nothing to rescue his mentor, not even when the girl he loved--and lost--walks back into his life. But Brette needs his help more than he knows, despite her stubborn determination to push him away. And when he gets a second chance, loving her just might cost him more than he can imagine.

A blogger for Vortex Storm Chasers, Brette Arnold didn't expect her adventures to land her in the same place as Ty, the guy who she walked--no, ran--from over a year ago. She had her reasons--good ones. The kind that tell her that falling for him again would only lead to heartache. But Ty isn't the kind of man to give up--not on the missing students, or on her.

Life and love hang in the balance in Susan May Warren's breathless story of holding on to hope during a deadly summer of storms.

I am so obsessed with this series (and the previous series) by Susan May Warren.  I watch and wait to see when the next book is coming out and then stalk NetGalley waiting, hoping to see a review copy become available.  Honestly, I am a stalker of this series.  Why?  I love the characters, who cross over throughout the books.  They become so familiar to me and that sense of family and belonging shines through.  I also love the sense of adventure and danger that is in full force.  It pushes these stories forward and I become so wrapped up in what is happening I don't want to put the book down!  What more could you ask for in a book?

Ty is one of my favorite characters, I think.  I loved his deep down desire to help people, to fix things, to save lives.  He is a follow his gut kind of guy and I loved how hard he fought for what he believed was right.

Brette has been through so much.  So many hard things and she has tackled them all on her own.  Her fierce independence protects her to some degree, but it drove me mad.  I wanted to shake some sense into her!  Ty was so utterly good to her.  He's the hero of this book, no doubt about it.

Yeah, I loved this one.  I can't wait for what is coming next!  (I'm back to stalking mode- ha!)   This is the fifth book in this series and I would recommend reading them in order just because you will love them more if you do.

Troubled Waters (Montana Rescue #4) by Susan May Warren

Billionaire Ian Shaw can have everything he wants--except a happy ending. Or at least that's what it feels like with his fortune recently liquidated, his niece, Esme, still missing, and the woman he loves refusing to speak to him. In fact, he doubts she would date him even if they were stranded on a deserted island.

Despite her love for Ian, Sierra Rose knows he has no room in his life for her as long as the mystery of his missing niece goes unsolved. The only problem is, Sierra has solved it, but a promise to Esme to keep her whereabouts secret has made it impossible to be around Ian.

When the PEAK chopper is damaged and Sierra lacks the funds to repair it, Ian offers a fundraising junket for large donors on his yacht in the Caribbean. But the three-day excursion turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave cripples the yacht and sends the passengers overboard. Shaken up and soaked to the bone, Ian finally has a chance to test his theory when he and Sierra do indeed find themselves washed up on a strange, empty shore.

It will take guts and gumption for the PEAK team to rescue the duo. But it will take a miracle to rescue Ian and Sierra's relationship.

This is one of my favorite series.  Well, the previous series, Montana Fire is my favorite, but this is a close second to it.  These books are SO good.  I think one of the reasons for this is that the characters cross over to other books.  Sometimes they are in the spotlight, sometimes they are in the background, but they are always there.  The characters become familiar and personal- like family.  I really love that feeling.

Ian and Sierra are two people that have been swirling around in every book of this Montana Rescue series.  They even have their own novella!  Theirs is the longest drawn out soap opera like relationship of the series.  This book has been a LONG time coming for Ian and Sierra.  You won't believe the drama that awaits you in this book!

This whole series is full of adventure and danger.  Usually this occurs in the mountains of Montana, but this book takes things out to the Caribbean.  It was terrifying, honestly.  I really want to go read all about rogue waves now but I'm kinda scared to.  I don't know if it will help or make me more afraid!  Regardless, this book had me on the edge of my seat more than once.  My feelings were invested and I was all in.

This is a series you really need to read in order.  There is progression for all the characters in each book and if you skip one, you won't really get all the back history.  I was so happy to see some resolution for Ian and Sierra and I just know they will be appearing in future books which makes me even happier.  Nobody ever really goes away in this series.

A Matter of Trust (Montana Rescue #3) by Susan May Warren

Champion back country snowboarder Gage Watson has left the limelight behind after the death of one of his fans. After being sued for negligence and stripped of his sponsorships, he's remade his life as a ski patrol in Montana's rugged mountains, as well as serving on the PEAK Rescue team. But he can't seem to find his footing--or forget the woman he loved, who betrayed him.

Senator and former attorney Ella Blair spends much of her time in the limelight as the second-youngest senator in the country. But she has a secret--one that cost Gage his career. More than anything, she wants to atone for her betrayal of him in the courtroom and find a way to help him put his career back on track.

When Ella's brother goes missing on one of Glacier National Park's most dangerous peaks, Gage and his team are called in for the rescue. But Gage isn't so sure he wants to help the woman who destroyed his life. More, when she insists on joining the search, he'll have to keep her safe while finding her reckless brother, a recipe for disaster when a snowstorm hits the mountain.

But old sparks relight as they search for the missing snowboarder--and suddenly, they are faced with emotions neither can deny. But when Ella's secret is revealed, can they learn to trust each other--even when disaster happens again?

I absolutely love this series by Susan May Warren.  Well, this and the Montana Fire series.  They are both so good.  They have cross over characters that really give you a sense of community and family.  Each book feels like coming home.

Just like previous books in this series, this book is full of danger and adventure set in the great outdoors.  I loved the forward momentum in this story and how I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath and white knuckled gripping my kindle for half the book.

Gage is a snowboarding magician- the greatest back country boarder of his time.  He's known for his no fear attitude and love for the thrill of danger.  Then something went wrong and that hotshot life he knew was wiped away.  You can't help but feel sympathy for Gage who got the raw end of a deal.  While trying to be the hero, he was made out to be a villain.  Now he's rebuilding his life and finding value in helping other people.  I thought Gage was savvy and an all around solid character.  I really liked him.

The other thing I love about these books are the side stories going on around the main story.  It sets the stage for future books by giving you a prequel of sorts.  I cannot wait for the next book!

Rescue Me (Montana Rescue #2) by Susan May Warren

When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him--not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff's department and PEAK Rescue, but in his private life. He's the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father's accidental death. And he's the one--perhaps the only one--who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and organized, she's nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.

Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember. But she wants her sister to have a happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on--namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small-town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.

Neither can predict the events that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.

I love this series.  I gobble up these books as soon as they are out and as fast as I can.  This book in particular lends itself to be gobbled.  It's full on, non stop and fast paced from the very beginning.  Seriously- it was like a action/drama on steroids!  It was hard to put down.

Sam and Willow are both such great characters.  Opposite in a lot of ways, but so good for each other.  Sam doesn't get on board with this plan for quite awhile so we have to sit by and watch with frustration as he bumbles up pretty much everything when it comes to Willow.  But, even when bumbling, Sam is a hero, a protector, a larger than life character that steals your heart.  Watching him fight his demons and ultimately win was very satisfying.

Willow is one of my favorites.  She has such enthusiasm and joy, it's hard not to like her.  She wears her heart on her sleeve and I love that.  She genuinely cares about others and wants to help wherever she can.  I want Willow to be my friend.

And, like I said above, this book is full of action packed drama.  I was all sorts of worked up!  I can't wait for the next book!!  (July)

Content:  Christian Fiction so there was talk of God and religious things.  Some peril and mild violence.  Kissing.

- I received a copy of this book from the publisher.  I was under no obligation to review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Wild Montana Skies (Montana Rescue #1) by Susan May Warren

Search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana, twelve years after she joined the military to escape the mistakes of her past. With a job waiting for her as the new lead pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park, Kacey hopes to reconnect with the now-teenage daughter she sees only between deployments. What she doesn't realize is that someone else is also back in town.

Ben King has been building his country music career since the day Kacey shut him out of her life. Now all of that's on hold when his injured father calls him home to help run Peak Rescue until he's fully recovered. It doesn't take long, though, to discover his father's ulterior motives as Kacey Fairing walks into the house and back into his heart.

With Mercy Falls in a state of emergency due to flash floods, Kacey and Ben are forced to work together to save lives. But when floodwaters turn personal, can they put aside the past to save their future?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

I don't know what it is about these books, but I am hooked.  It all started with the Montana Fire series that revolved around smokejumpers.  I LOVED that series.  I was so happy to see this off shoot series from that one.  Some of the characters cross over and it's fun to see them.  Susan May Warren writes these books in a way that just settles in so easy with me.  I love the romance and the adventure/suspense together.  By the end of the book I feel like I know these characters and I am invested in their success.

This series is about a search and rescue team in the small town of Mercy Falls, Montana.  The setting is perfect for this with National Parks all around.  This story is mostly about Ben and Kacey but there is a secondary story line happening as well.  Ian and Sierra's story starts in If Ever I Would Leave You: A Montana Rescue Prequel.  (which is free on Amazon as of when I wrote this.)  But it doesn't have a conclusion.  They are featured in this novel but STILL don't reach a conclusion.  I guess they are the couple with the eternal struggle.  It was awesome to read the prequel before this novel though to get a good sense of who Ian and Sierra are and how their relationship started and evolved.  It also set the stage for the Mercy Falls rescue team.

Ben and Kacey are a love story gone wrong.  Their love story began early when they were both young.  Circumstances tore them apart but now they have been brought back together with a common job task.  You can feel the tension and the connection these two have.  It's just a matter of finding their way through the murky waters of the past.

I'm so excited about this new series.  I can't wait to read the next book which is scheduled to come out in January.  Yay!

Content:  mention of previous sexual relationship outside of marriage, some mild suspense and violence.  Christian fiction, some moments that have a "preachy" feel to it.
