Every time I read a book by author Rachael Anderson I am reminded why I love her writing so much.  Her books draw me in and wrap me up in a gentle, sweet way.  

This story has so much banter.  I love witty banter!!  Chelle and Miles are both intelligent and independent.  They have an instant attraction but Chelle is keeping some distance and secrecy around herself.  Miles is pursuing her.  It made for some fun interactions.

Miles is so determined to prove himself to Chelle so she won't hate him.  He messed up.  He really did.  And then he bumbles so many things but his consistency and his kindness, not just to Chelle, but to everyone, is hard to ignore.  I simply adored Miles.  He tried so hard.

This is the second book in this series but these books can easily stand alone.

I was swept away to the London countryside in this book.  Mostly to the stables, where Ridley was the stable master.  Everything and everyone seemed revolve around him, to be drawn to him.  I loved every single scene and every interaction that starred Ridley.  His gentle ways, his patience and wisdom made this book because he changed the lives of everyone he met for the better.  He listened, he guided, he fixed, he cared.  

I loved watching Eleanora grow in confidence and strength as the story unfolded.  My heart ached for her as a mother.

This is a sweet, gentle story of a broken family who heals because of Ridley.

Can you tell I loved Ridley?  I also love the cover on this book!

Ooh, this is one of my favorite books so far this year.  😍  It took me a quick minute to fall into the story but it happened.  It really, really happened.  I love when a story just takes over my mind and my heart.  This one was filled with mystery, danger and sparking attraction.  I loved every single minute of it.

I pegged the bad guy from the beginning but I didn't have it all figured out.  This mystery had me suspecting all kinds of people and things.  I love that even though I had two major things figured out, I was still surprised.  That's some great writing.

I loved fiery, independent Ginny.  She was independent but knew when she needed help.  I admired her courage and determination.  Once that girl makes up her mind about something, watch out!  Jack was her perfect counterpart.  Equally independent and full of confidence, strength and smarts.  I just loved them both!!

This story was a fun, romantic distraction from beginning to end.  I loved it.

First, I have to say that I love the cover of this book.  It's so pretty.

Have you ever watch the movie "While You Were Sleeping"?  This book is so much like that story but set in a regency time period.  All those vibes were there.  Mistaken identity, mistaken betrothal, some uncorrected assumptions and just like that, Lucy is in quite a predicament.  She needs help so she lets the Calloway family continue in their assumptions but always feels so guilty about it.   As she should.  The growing friendship and awareness between Simon and Lucy was well done and I loved it.  The last bit of the book picked up in pace and made for a very satisfying ending.

This story was endearing.  There were so many likable characters who filled up the spaces in between and around Lucy and Simon.  It was so easy to love them all.  They made such a pretty familial picture.  I really hope a story about Nick is in the works.  He's a character I'd really love to know better.

Author Mimi Matthews has done it once again.  Of course she has.  At this point I would expect nothing less.  What a gifted author writing in this regency genre.  Her ability to weave stories with characters of depth and connect me to it all, is amazing.  

This book was absolutely everything I hoped it would be when it was announced.  The second generation characters brought me back to the people and places I loved in previous books.  Honestly, you really should read the to previous books (The Work of Art and Gentleman Jim) before reading this one.  I wouldn't say you HAVE to but it will deepen your connections and make the story richer if you do.

I adored Lady Katherine.  She was so bold while still maintaining poise and kindness.  It was sort of one and done once she encountered Charles.  She pursued him, so determined to catch his attention and devotion.  I just have to love a woman from any generation that knows who she is and what she wants.

Of course Charles is amazing too.  His soft heart for family and animals tops the list of his charming qualities.  It takes him a little bit longer to settle into the idea of forever with Kate but he gets there.  I loved how once he was in, there was no going back. 

There is a bit of intrigue, wrongs of the past that need to be put right, secrets and of course, growing love.  I was invested from beginning to end.  Love, love, love.

🎜Matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match . . . Find me a find, catch me a catch.🎜  Does anyone know this song from Fiddler On the Roof?  This is the song that kept running through my head throughout this book.  It's now my theme song for this book.  

Lord Featherstone and Lady Loveluck are matchmakers of a sort.  They help people fine tune themselves so that they can make a love match.  They help them navigate society and give them confidence.  But then Lord Featherstone finds himself enamored with Lady Loveluck and has to become the matchmaker for himself!  (This makes me laugh because then he is singing my theme song to himself! 😂 )  Lady Loveluck is harder to convince than most women.  And Lord Featherstone isn't the only one vying for her attention.  Competition!!

There is a lot of back and forth in this book.  Both characters trying to sacrifice for the greater good- their clients, mostly.  There is a slow growing awareness and attachment.  It was all very sweet and gentle in nature.  Pure regency.  A fun start to a new series by this author.

Have you ever seen The Little Mermaid?  Because there is a song in that show that was on loop in my head as I read your story.  "Yes, you want her.  Look at her, you know you do.  It's possible she wants you too, there is one way to ask her. . . and you don't know why but you're dying to try, you want to kiss the girl."   I felt like Sebastian in your story.

Kiss the girl!!  I get why you held back, well actually, I don't.  I get why YOU think you should've held back, but I don't get it.  Anyone who looks at you two can see clearly that you are meant to be together.  It's all there.  She is beautiful, inside and out.  She is smart, loyal, kind and brave.  Seriously?!  What were you doing?  KISS THE GIRL.

I will say that I admire your kindness.  Rhianna really needed someone to step in and help her and you did it, perfectly.  I loved how you listened to her and respected what she said and what she wanted.  Yes, your loyalty to your country is admirable too.  It is.  It's just, . . . Rhianna.   But you eventually got there.  It took quite the event to get you there, but hallelujah, you got there.  You are so lucky you didn't lose your girl to one of your brothers.

Oh, and one other little thing.  Now that we are such tight friends, I wondered if I could visit your castle?  I promise I won't get in your way at all.  I'll just find a little spot, overlooking the water with a cozy chair and a book.  You won't even know I am there.

Tag?  In a ballroom?  Sounds fun, right?  Emerson thinks so too and he hopes by employing this game that it will give him opportunities to get closer to Olivia.  I liked this clever approach to this regency story.  It felt unique in that respect and I don't think I've read another book with that idea in it.  

Emerson is a fun guy- very determined to win Olivia over.  He's on the chase and it brought a smile to my face.

The whole story felt light and fun.  It never really left surface level for me in terms of emotion and depth but it was easy, happy reading which is a good diversion.  A good debut novel for this author!

Love comes in all ages and places of life.  I love reading romance books but I don't come across a whole lot of them with older, more mature characters.  What a refreshing change to have both of the main characters here a bit older, having both lost spouses, with older children.  It gave them a different perspective on life and love and I connected with them in a different way than other romance books because I am a bit more mature and older too.  😉

I loved the beginning and the first meeting between the characters.  The large difference in station between Kenneth and Rebecca is a real tripping point for them both but their attraction keeps them both coming back for more.  I could feel their loneliness.  That was the strongest emotion for me.  

The story here is gentle and sweet and I enjoyed it.  Ooh, and I love the cover.

Well, we're back with the Jennings family and this time Rebecca is in the spotlight.  She's the younger sister who has missed her London season for a few years now.  I love the play on the title here with a literal accident bringing about an unanticipated romance.

This story is slow and gentle.  There isn't anything here that will get your heart pounding in excitement but there are plenty of heartfelt moments as Rebecca and Ben develop a friendship and rapport.  I liked the layers to Ben and how he really wanted to do the right things.  He was easy to like and I was rooting for his healing and success all along.  Rebecca is a bit ornery and sometimes mean.  I didn't always like her attitude but as she got nicer, I enjoyed her more.  Disappointment and hurt have a way of making the best of us ornery, I guess.  All's well that ends well and this one definitely ended well.

It was good to see characters from previous books which added to the feeling of family and love.  The Jennings family is full of personality.

I would really, really love to be in the setting of these books right now.  A seaside summer in England sounds like just the thing.  Isn't it lovely that books can transport us to all the places as we read?  I love books.

Each of the stories in this book are simply delightful.  I loved each one of them.  They were engaging and the characters made me smile.  Well, Judith probably made me smile the most.  The first story was the most endearing, I think.  The second story, the most amusing and the third story had the sweetest characters.  Oh, and I have to say that I love the cover on this book.  It's beautiful and really set the stage for the movies that played out in my head as I read.

This book was such a delight.  Honestly, from beginning to end I was invested and interested.  I didn't want to put it down and I read through it quickly.

I adored the characters.  Graham was, well, Graham.  I loved his teasing, playful side with Honora.  I loved how he didn't really hide his feelings.  They came out in his words and his actions.  And if you don't laugh from Honora's antics, I don't know what to say.  (I'm thinking peacock here.)  She is a smart one, Honora, and super dedicated to her plan.  She was fun.

From the scenes to the character interactions, this book played out like a lovely movie in my head.  I love when that happens. I honestly wish this was a movie.  I would probably watch it over and over again.

You guys.  I am having THE BEST reading week!  If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I just read Jennifer Peel's new book that comes out next month.  (review coming soon) I was in full hangover mode heading into this book and I was worried.  Now I'm just laughing because THIS.  BOOK.  <sigh>  Now I have two book hangovers back to back.  It's a completely awesome feeling.

This is the kind of book for girls who love a "bad boy" and the woman who finally claims him.  Misunderstood, unfairly (and sometimes fairly) judged, a bit on the dark side and pushing the social norm boundaries of his day.  Meet Lord Bryant.  He's yummy.  Honestly.  So, so yummy.  You can tell this just from the cover, right?  I feel like I just watched the loveliest movie play out in my head.  Right up there with Pride and Prejudice.  Seriously.  I was so engaged from beginning to end.  Invested.  Right there with these characters.  

This feels a bit gushy, right?  It is.  I can't help it. 😍
