Resisting Dylan: Christian Cowboy Romance (Cowboy Inspired Book 2) by Sophia Summers

When a tall piece of old fashioned goodness walks into the deli smiling at everyone in sight, she knows this must be his first time in New York.

But when she sees him again, this time on his own land, sitting on top of a horse, she knows why he's always smiling.

Can two people as different as can be find enough inside to keep them together?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

This is book two in a series of members of the same family.  I don't think the books need to be read in order although you might be happier if you do.

In the beginning of this book, Dylan has set out to the big city to reconnect with his ex girlfriend.  He wants to settle down, get married and have kids and is hoping to rekindle their love.  The night before he is supposed to meet up with Shelby, he meets Kate.  I love that Kate and Dylan meet before he meets up with Shelby.  It gave me a few minutes to solidify that attraction and beginning friendship before Shelby entered the picture.

Dylan has a pretty good head on his shoulders.  I liked that he didn't come off completely ignorant of Shelby's character flaws.  Both Dylan and Kate a good people.  It was easy to like them.  It was easy to understand their motivations.  I liked the growing attraction between them and the kissy moments too.  Dylan's family is a good one and I love that they are all in each book- supporting and working through the hard things.

This was an easy reading, escape book.  It was gentle and enjoyed it.

Content:  Christian elements (praying, reading Bible, talk of God), kissing

Coming Home to Maverick by Sophia Summers

Bailey is back. Maverick thought he was over her. But neither can deny the feelings that will always be there.

Bailey has made mistakes, so many she doesn't think she'll really ever forgive herself. But her daughter deserves the kind of life Bailey had growing up. When she shows up on her parents' doorstep back to her hometown, the one person she isn't ready to see is Maverick. But will she ever be able to face him?

The minute Maverick hears Bailey is back, he knows his heart still belongs to her. But what kind of man trusts a woman who left him at the altar? As he grapples with a new daughter that he can't help but wish was his, all the responsibilities of running his family's ranch, and the hurt he feels about Bailey's betrayal, he finds new love and hope not only with her but with God.

As soon as God is a part of the equation, the sweetness they find is better than they ever had. Just maybe this second chance around is God's gift of happiness to them both.

Coming Home to Maverick is a story of forgiveness and redemption.  It is a story that will tug on your heart because who hasn't made mistakes, sometimes big ones, that require the forgiveness of others and also the hard task of forgiving yourself?

Bailey left her man at the alter without a word.  She ran off with a different man who promised her stars and she had his child.  Now she is back in a small town where everyone knows her and knows her mistakes.  That's a pretty big challenge to overcome.  I really love how the author painted the town in good light, that the people there could accept Bailey back with open arms and love, especially Maverick's family.  Maverick hears Bailey is back and his family asks how he wants to treat her.  Should they ignore her?  Shun her?  Maverick tells them to be kind to her.  And I know this is just a fiction book, but that sort of sentiment restored a bit of hope in humanity for me.  I really want to believe that people are good enough to do this and that I am too.

Maverick is something else.  If you make a mistake, he's the guy you want forgiving you!  It was almost too easy for him but I'm willing to overlook this because I really want there to be people like this out there in the world.  Maverick is kind.  He is patient.  He is loyal.  He works hard and he is all things Texas cowboy.  Yeah.  He's good.

I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet story of love and forgiveness and it felt good around my heart.  Maverick has a whole family of boys so here's to hoping we get a story for each brother.

This book is just $.99 on Kindle right now and it is also on Kindle Unlimited.

Content:  mention of intimate relations outside of marriage with no details, Christian elements including prayer, forgiveness.

- I bought my own copy of this book.

Ace: A Fighter Pilot Romance (Top Flight Book 1) by Sophia Summers

A fighter pilot with regrets, a humanitarian worker with a mission, and a second chance to work through everything that keeps them apart.

Dex Callison, otherwise known as Ace makes a split second decision to parachute into a hostile situation to make a lot of things in his life right. His life as a Senator's son, a JAG Air Force pilot and then an active duty soldier have not yet filled the loss of his best friend, the only woman he has ever loved, Gianna West.

Gianna West thought that she and Dex were made for each other forever. He'd promised to finish his active duty and then join her building orphanages all over the world in remote villages. But she learned in one instant, how much more Dex wanted to start his own military training program, much more than he wanted to be with her. Alone, serving people she falls in love with, she tries to tell herself she doesn't miss him. All of that goes out the window when he shows up in her village on a remote island.

When you travel to a different country every six months, there’s little time for relationships. Every pilot joins Top Flight for different reasons, but no one expects to fall in love.

The Team:
Dex, Call sign ACE
Ridley, Call sign BEAR
Colton, Call sign FLYBOY
Amanda, Call sign MUSTANG

I'm pretty excited about this new Fighter Pilot Romance series and Sophia Summers did a great job kicking things off.  Each book will be by a different author which should be so much fun!

I think this author had a difficult task of giving us the foundation for all the characters to come in this series and she did it really well.  I didn't feel too overwhelmed by all the characters (and there were a LOT of them!) and I felt like I had a good base for future character development by the next authors.

Dex and Gianna have history.  They have known each other for a long time and loved each other almost as long.  I really love a good second chance at first love story and this one definitely hit that sweet spot.  Dex and Gianna are both strong and brave.  They are what I would call the "doers" of the world.  They are out in the trenches, making things happen.  Their jobs aren't easy but they both find immense satisfaction in what they do.

I loved the strong connection between Dex and Gianna.  They have chemistry and respect for each other.  That's a great combination.  I loved the elements of danger and action surrounding Dex and Gianna because it kept things exciting and moving forward at a fast pace.  This book had a definite Top Gun feel to it and it makes me excited to see where the next books in this series take me.

Shootout (Northbrook Hockey Elite #6) by Sophia Summers

Trane wondered if he would ever be the kind of guy who settled down and had a family. He had too much in his past, too much to deal with in his present to have hope that his future would be anything other than many years as one of the best goalies in the NHL. Until he meets the new ice girl.

Former dancer on Broadway, Janae, can't seem to get a job anywhere but as an ice girl for the Detroit Comets. Her plan? To make her mark in Detroit so she can get back to Broadway as soon as possible. Things are going well. Her new dance routines for the team become an industry sensation. She predicts she'll be back in New York within the year. But then she goes out with Trane Jones. And suddenly everything she thought was important might not be.

How can this be the last book in this series?!  I don't think I'm ready for this to end.  I have loved the feeling of family and camaraderie I've felt throughout the whole series.  Each book focuses on one particular hockey player but the whole group appears somehow in each book.  It's like keeping old friends while making new ones.

These books are easy reading, romantic distractions.  I know what I'm going to get going in and that just feels good.

Trane is such a good guy.  I love how hard he works at being that stand up guy at all times.  He is a defender of the underdog because he was the underdog and he knows how it feels to have someone in his corner, making a difference for him.  I loved how Trane's story came full circle in this book.

My only complaint about this book would be Janae and her backstory.  I feel like we got mentions of it but nothing fleshed out.  I don't know where she came from or what happened in her family.  Only brief comments here or there.  I wish I understood her more.

The Northbrook Hockey series has been a fun ride and I'm sad to be at the end.  I'll miss this family of Hockey players.

Rebound (Northbrook Hockey Elite #3) by Sophia Summers, Rebecca Connolly, Heather B. Moore

He's all in. She's all in. Nothing stands in their way--until their families get involved.

Summer Davis, small town librarian, PHD candidate, wants to fall in love.
Rocco De Luca, pro hockey player, didn’t know he was looking for love until he met Summer.

Now they try to navigate getting to know each other around his home game schedule with both their families vying for attention and meddling in ways only big families can. It’s a wonder they can go on a few dates at all once Summer’s brothers learn a pro hockey player is interested in their sister.

But the closer they become, the harder it will be when Summer is offered the chance of a lifetime…far away from their small town in Wyoming.

Do you love hockey?  Or, are you like me and know next to nothing about hockey?  Luckily, either way you probably love this book.  It's not the hockey that makes me love this book but the romance and the awesome relationships between  this group of friends that all started with hockey.  That is really the kind of stuff that I love to settle in with.  Love and friendship. It makes my heart happy all the way around.

I think Rocco and Summer are both fun characters.  They are well matched and their first meet was something else!  I liked the natural progression of their relationship and the fun they had together.

This series is one of my favorites.  I'm all in and anticipating the next book!

Faceoff (Northbrook Hockey Elite) by Rebecca Connolly, Heather B. Moore, Sophia Summers

She isn’t supposed to want him. He isn’t supposed to want her. But wanting each other is inevitable.

Clint McCarthy has finally achieved his dream of playing for a professional hockey program, and is eager to make his mark with his new team. While getting settled in his new city, he happens across Bree Stone, whom he has known for years, with their respective brothers both being in the famed Belltown Six Pack. But for the life of him, he can’t remember Bree ever looking so attractive. Or being so captivating. Or taking over his every waking thought.

In the middle of her graduate degree, Bree has no time or desire for working on her dating life, or lack thereof, but the impossibly handsome Clint McCarthy coming back into her life makes everything complicated. She shouldn’t be focusing on him, or on them, not when her professional future hangs in the balance. But once she hears about Clint’s past with the Northbrook Hockey Elite program, and where that program stands now, Bree just might find a way to make her career, and a future with Clint, come to life.

Welcome to Northbrook Hockey Elite!

Six professional hockey players used to play on an elite club team together, but have all separated and now play in the pro-hockey leagues. Not all of them were friends, yet circumstances bring them together, and for the greater good, maybe they can put aside their differences.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

I can't tell you how excited I am for this series!  After reading (and LOVING!) the Belltown baseball series, I've been anxious to get started on this one.  I actually know next to nothing about hockey which makes me more like Bree because I was raised with baseball but that isn't going to stop me from enjoying this series!

One of my favorite things about this story is that Clint is in from the first moments of seeing Bree again.  He is pursuing her and she knows it.  The chemistry and the intensity increases between them and I could feel it.  It was a natural progression of feelings.  I love that once Clint and Bree are in it, they don't have any major misunderstanding that drives them apart.  They work on a problem together but they don't ever fight.  That was refreshing and I loved it.

The first kiss was yummy, Bree's friends and the whole hockey community are fun, and I love that we don't have to say goodbye to the six pack!  This book was so good and I can't wait for the next book, out next month!!  Yay!!

Flirting With First (Belltown Six Pack #5) by Sophia Summers

Ryker Stone, one of the famed Belltown Six Pack loves what no one else notices in Trista McKinney. But when co-star and heart throb, Trevor Dayton, starts a social media campaign, competing for her attention, and Ryker’s baseball schedule and pressures amp up, Ryker lays it all on the line to win her over forever.

Trista McKinney doesn’t need winning. She’s been Ryker’s from the very beginning, but her movie’s production schedule and her dreams of one day winning an Oscar make it almost impossible for things to progress between the two.

With feelings high, both of their careers in the balance, can Trista and Ryker find a path to professional success without losing what they’ve found in each other?

 * Goodreads * Amazon

Yay!  Another Belltown Six Pack story!  I'm SO loving this series!!  I love the blue on white theme with this book cover- it's so attractive to me.  Like Ryker.  😍  I read this book right on the heels of Snatching the Catcher and Grizz who I think is still MY number one favorite but Ryker might hold a close second.  A VERY close second.

Ryker is cautious when it comes to Trista because of her profession and the media exposure she frequently receives but Trista is all in and has been since she first met Ryker.  She really wants to move forward with a relationship with him but between both of their  occupations and Ryker's hesitation, things are moving at a snail's pace.  Poor Trista was so frustrated!  I felt her longing and her increasing desire to be near Ryker.  She was practically begging Ryker to kiss her!

I love when Ryker decided he was all in.  It was such a good moment for me as a reader.  I just love all in moments.  I loved how Trista wanted to protect her growing relationship with Ryker.  I loved the "luck stone" and it played a part in the whole story.  Especially the ending.  💙

This book is part of the Belltown Six Pack series but can stand alone.  I would recommend reading them all though!  It's a fun bunch of books!

Falling for Centerfield (Belltown Six Pack #2) by Sophia Summers

Cole has secrets.
Harlow has a past.
Will the part of his life Cole hides tear them apart, or become the very thing she loves most about him?

Major League Baseball Player, Cole Hunter, has strong ties to his college days and the university he shared with five of his best friends, now known as the #BellTownSixPack. When an old acquaintance, Harlow Ember, walks in, wearing his jersey and his signature sunglasses, he knows this woman might have what it takes to capture his heart. But none of Cole’s typical efforts to gain a girl’s attention seem to work on Harlow.

Harlow Ember is asked to report on a charity event for children back in Belltown sponsored by Cole Hunter and the Six Pack. Even though Cole attracts her in all the right ways, she has goals of her own that don’t involve losing her heart to one more guy who will end up leaving her cold. While her trust is at an all-time low, her interest and attraction are a raging pull in the other direction.

Will her hurts from the past and the secrets he hides work in their favor or end things before they can even begin?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

Ummmmm.  I really love baseball.  Spring training has begun which makes this the perfect week to tell you about this book, Falling for Centerfield.  It's part of a series, each book written by a different author, but the characters are all intertwined.  I would say that each book can stand on it's own and you don't have to read them in any particular order, but you might be happier if you do follow them in order.

This book had lots of yummy chemistry, some great kissing scenes and a lot of misunderstanding and drama.  There were moments I wanted to strangle both Cole and Harlow for different reasons.  Mostly I understood Harlow's frustrations with Cole- he could really be a dunderhead but then he would do or say something so sweet and then- swoon.  He was almost making me crazy.  ha.  I loved Harlow's fire, her passion and yes, even her heckling.  She really gave it to Cole.  From the stands.  During a game.  hahahahahahahaha  😂

I really enjoyed this one.  It made me smile a lot.  I can't wait for the next book!!  Bring on the baseball!!

This book releases on March 5th and will be on Kindle Unlimited!
