I loved the opening scene for this book and how the characters all came together in the beginning.  It was a great start for the book and sparked my interest.  This book felt a little long though, and started to drag a bit for me in the middle part.  Even with it's slower pace, I remained interested until the end.

Jake and Mia are both so careful and deliberate.  It wasn't often that emotions flared with them or between them which made me feel like I was just outside of connecting with them but I really liked them both.  I had to admire the commitment they had to their goals and their desire to help people.  The world could use more people like Mia and Jake.

I thought the author did an excellent job of portraying some real life struggles like death of a loved one, Alzheimer's Disease, military life, pregnancy problems and so many more. 

This is a Christian fiction book and the Christian themes were prominent but not too preachy.

This is one of my favorite books of all time.  In fact, I think it's probably time to read it again!  Thanks to Shadow Mountain, I am able to give away a copy of this book to one luck reader.  Shadow Mountain is celebrating Romance Awareness Month and today as National Book Lovers Day.  I picked Edenbrooke because I LOVE it.  It's an amazing book and I think everyone should read it!

This book felt like a movie playing out in my head.  It was so easy to visualize the scenes and the character interactions.  I love when that happens.  And isn't the cover so pretty?  I love it.

Elaine has been publicly humiliated, her family disgraced.  They move from London to Havencross in Cornwall.  There Elaine has to face not only her buried feelings of loss for her brother, but the love she left behind- Gareth.  

Gareth is a steady sort of man.  Strong.  I loved him.  

This book was an excellent mixture of mystery, intrigue and romance.  I loved how the mystery played out and how the book built in intensity.  So very good!

Cora is the daughter of the Grim Reaper.  She defied my ideas of what a grim reaper would be.  I loved her heart, courage and determination.  And Leo?  Ummm, yumma yumma.  Sign me up for some of that.  He and Cora were perfectly matched and they fought hard to have that.

I was pulled in from the very beginning of this story and it was over way too soon.  I wanted more of Cora and Leo.

I really do love the Proper Romance line from Shadow Mountain.  This book is an excellent addition to this collection and I just love Nancy Campbell Allen's writing.

This book is set in India during the regency era.  Yes, this is a romance but it's got some swirling intrigue as well.  There are secrets everywhere and Sophia is caught in the middle of them all and she doesn't even know it!  Well, eventually she does.  And then she is in trouble!

Poor Anthony.  His heart beats and yearns for Sophia but hello?  Spy?  Yeah, that puts a damper on the whole I love Sophia thing.  It was rather fun watching him squirm and clench his jaw and fist his hands in frustration as he watched and interacted with Sophia.  There was some good tension and build up between the two of them.

High school drama?  Yup.  This book IS high school drama.  It really took me back to the day.  Emme is young and it shows in her peer relationships.  In her family, however, she shows some remarkable maturity.  The concern and care she demonstrates for her struggling grandfather and her sick grandmother are what completely endeared me to Emme.  I am ashamed to say that I wasn't nearly so intuitive or kind when I was her age and dealt with a grandfather living in my home.  It's something I regret and often wish I could go back and redo that time with him.  Emme is everything I wish I had been.

This book is heavy on dialogue.  I was a bit surprised at how much there really was in comparison to the other books I was reading at the time.  It will probably work well with the target age group though.  Young adult, on the young side of that.
