The Rancher's Redemption (Return of the Blackwell Brothers #3) by Melinda Curtis

His family committed a terrible wrong.

Ben Blackwell wants to make it right. The last time Ben saw Rachel Thompson was when her best friend left him at the altar. Now Rachel's suing the Blackwells over river water rights. Rachel's a triple threat--rancher, fellow attorney and single mom--and Ben's plan to win in court hits a snag when mutual attraction blooms. If he divulges a long-held secret, will his family forgive him? Will Rachel?

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

This is the third installment in the Return of the Blackwell Brothers series.  I am really loving how each book is written by a different author so each brother has a distinct voice and personality.  The books have cross over appeal with familiar characters and a continuing story line.  I think these books should be read in order but I think each book can stand on it's own.  You will just enjoy them more if you read them in order.

Ben is a man who feels the weight of guilt from past decisions.  He wants to own up to his mistakes and make things right for everyone involved, especially Rachel as they reconnect.  I could feel Ben's desires to be honorable and I could definitely feel Rachel's frazzled emotions as she tries to balance everything on her plate.  What I had a harder time feeling was the romantic connection between Ben and Rachel.  But, having said that, I still feel like both Ben and Rachel were believable characters with motives and desires that I cared about too.  I loved the addition of the sweet baby and how Ben was a champion with her.  That's enough to melt any mother's heart!

This is a great addition to this series and I'm really looking forward to the next book.  Things are building for quite the ending with these Blackwell brothers and their grandfather!

Rumor Has It: In Christmas Falls (Return to Christmas Falls #4) by Melinda Curtis

Twelve unlucky years ago, rumors flew about Lexi and Kevin. And now? Well, not much has changed, except this time neither can run away. Not from Christmas Falls. And maybe . . . not from each other.

As a political strategist at Dunlop Bennet & Associates, Lexi Townsend's career is going nowhere. She's a cubical dweller writing speeches for freshmen senators in DC. But if she can hitch her career wagon to a rising political star, she’ll be on her way to a corner office in no time. When she’s offered a plum holiday assignment–an ideal candidate with deep pockets, someone who could make the leap from local to national politics–she starts to dream about that corner office.

Until she realizes her candidate is Kevin O’Malley, aka Kevin the Hottie, Kevin the Snob, Kevin the Liar, the same guy who shattered her high school reputation back home in Christmas Falls with a rumor. Assignment in hand, Lexi braces herself for the most difficult political race of her career--because this time it’s personal.

This is such a fun series.  I love the whole concept with different authors writing about different characters that have some cross over into the other books.  This series has a real coming home feeling about it which I love.

Small towns and rumors.  Ugh.  I know how that is.  I've pretty much lived in small towns my whole life and it's true that rumors travel fast.  Once people have their mind set about those rumors, it's hard to shake.  But, as displayed in this book, small towns also know how to rally and take care of each other.  Christmas Falls is a perfect representation of small towns and I love how the authors in this series bring out a little of the worst but so much of the best.

I will say that I liked this book okay but I didn't love it as much as the others I've read.  I had a hard time connecting to the characters.  Even understanding Kevin's motivation for letting rumors fly, I didn't like it.  I felt like there could have been a better way to take care of the issue without hurting someone he supposedly cared about so much.  I don't know.  It just wasn't my favorite set up for a book.  But, all's well that ends well, right?  I love a happy ending.

Support Your Local Sheriff by Melinda Curtis + Book Giveaway!

Support Your Local Sheriff
(Harmony Valley #10)
by Melinda Curtis
Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 384 pages
October 1st 2017 by Harlequin Heartwarming

Will he pass the daddy test?

With his job in jeopardy, it couldn't be a worse time for Sheriff Nate Landry's recent past to come back to haunt him. But it would take an army to stop SWAT team leader Julie Smith. The fellow cop—and sister of his ex-fiancĂ©e—wants one thing from the beleaguered lawman: custody of the toddler son that Nate didn't know he had.

He may not be natural daddy material, but he quickly takes a shine to little Duke. And then there are the feelings Nate's been hiding for years. Only now Julie's running for sheriff of Harmony Valley—against him. Time to retreat? Not if he wants a future with the woman he loves.

GoodreadsAmazonBarnes & NobleHarlequin

I'm just going to start out by admitting that I just may be half in love with Sheriff Nate Landry.  He is seriously swoony but not for his good looks (which he has!) or his suave (which he doesn't have much of!).  His attraction, for me, is his quiet strength, his patience, kindness and his good manners.  Is that weird?  He is a true gentleman and I just adore him.

Then you add in a super cute two year old and that man gets even MORE attractive.  Yup.  It's true.  That two year old Drake made my mommy instincts hum.  I want him.

This is a slow building romance.  The sparks don't really jump off the page but the story has a gentle pull that kept me engaged and interested.  There are all kinds of meddling, crazy and quirky characters thrown into this book.  Combine that with the small town antics and you will be shaking your head and rolling your eyes, just like me.  It was a lot of fun.

Adult Contemporary Romance

February 1st 2016 by Harlequin Heartwarming

Three bachelors turned…matchmakers?

One special night with Cooper Hamilton gave Nora Perry a precious gift. But no way is the sweet-talking salesman the right guy for her…or is he?

Former pro athlete Ty Porter could get burned when he falls for the beautiful reporter who ruined his career—and could now expose his most zealously guarded secret!

Gideon Walker has a long history with free-spirited flower shop owner Sophie Jennings. But when the banker-matchmaker fixes her up with potential candidates, he realizes he's made a terrible mistake…

What a fun idea for a book.  This book is three novellas in one, each revolving around one of three characters that we meet in the first book.  They are friends who have common interests and goals and get sucked into a bet of sorts where they become the town matchmakers.  It's a funny concept because these men are in no way suave or experienced in that way.  Actually, they are kind of lunk heads.  Each novella follows one man and his journey in love- even though that's not what he is looking for.

I liked all three books, the last one probably being my favorite of the bunch.  The first book sets things up and the last one ties things together.  I liked that each book was by a different author.  It helped separate the characters and define them as individuals with their own voice.

It is no secret that I am a fan of Harlequin Heartwarming line.  I love that there is a whole line of books dedicated to the sweet and clean.  I know I can pick up any book from this line and not have to worry about content.  It is always a happy day when I can read a book from this line.

Content:  Some references to one night stands, casual sexual relationships, drinking alcohol.

Award winning, USA Today bestseller Melinda Curtis writes the Harmony Valley series of sweet and emotional romances for Harlequin Heartwarming, and the sweet romantic comedy Bridesmaid series. A Memory Away is Book 6 in the Harmony Valley series. Brenda Novak says: “Season of Change has found a place on my keeper shelf”. Melinda also writes hotter romances as Mel Curtis. Jayne Ann Krentz says of Blue Rules: “Wonderfully entertaining.

Cari Lynn Webb lives in Alabama with her family. If she isn’t at her computer, she can usually be found: picking up her daughters from school, dropping off at swimming or soccer practice or running into the grocery store for that one thing she forgot on her shopping list. She loves escaping into a romance and her e-reader can usually be found in her passenger seat. Visit her at: www.carilynnwebb.com.

You’ve met Anna J. Stewart (or someone like her) before. She was the girl who spun in circles on the playground hoping her Wonder Woman costume would magically appear before playing cops and robbers a la Charlie’s Angels–as Sabrina (she was the smart one). Anna was the girl in the back of the class with a paperback romance hidden in her algebra book (and yes, she failed algebra).

Growing up in the 70′s and 80′s meant there weren’t a lot of YA books, so she ventured early into mainstream fiction and read Stephen King’s CARRIE at the age of 8. Discovering Nora Roberts and romance novels early in high school opened her eyes to the wonders of storytelling and the beauty of a happily ever after.

So here she is, many years later with an English degree from CSU Sacramento, an RWA Golden Heart nomination behind her, countless stories in her head, and a serious addiction to STAR TREK, SUPERNATURAL, and SHERLOCK. She recently wrapped up a nearly 8-year stint working as assistant to NYTimes bestselling author Brenda Novak where she helped run Brenda's annual online auction for diabetes research. When she's not writing or reading (which she never has enough time for!), she's working on dollhouse miniatures and tolerating her overly-affectionate cat named Snickers (or perhaps it's Snickers who tolerates her).

He's coming up on her blind side

How can Shelby Hawkley forgive Gage Jamero for bailing on her when she needed him most? He and her husband, Nick, were the best part of her life. Now her former best friend is back, shaking up the widowed wine harvester's world. The safest bet is to protect herself. Except Gage is awakening feelings that are decidedly unfriend-like.

Shelby is the woman Gage has secretly loved since high school. Starting over—together—could be the best dream he's ever had. If only he can find the courage to say what he should have said all those years ago.

Amazon - Barnes & Noble - iTunes - Kobo - Google PlayHarlequin

Here we go today with another fabulous Harlequin Heartwarming title- "One Perfect Year".  Just in case I've never said this before, I love Harlequin Heartwarming.  They provide me with clean romance books that focus on relationships, emotions and romance.  I know what I'm going to get when I pick one a book from this line.   I know I won't be surprised by any sexual situations.  That's perfect for me.

If you like friendship turning to romance stories, this book will make you happy.  Shelby and Gage have been friends for a long time.  Of course, Gage has always loved Shelby but Shelby fell in love with his best friend so Gage was never free to act on his feelings for Shelby.  Gage is nothing but a gentleman.  He is very careful with Shelby and her feelings.  He knows that he has to change her spinster mindset though if he's going to win her over.  Luckily, he has a few town friends on his side who help to gently nudge Shelby along.

I know this is the fourth book in the series but I do believe it is a stand alone novel.  I haven't read the first three books in the series but I never felt like I was missing out on anything.  I'd love to go back and read the whole series though.

This is a sweet story of love and friendship.  I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Award winning, USA Today bestseller Melinda Curtis writes the Harmony Valley series of sweet and emotional romances for Harlequin Heartwarming, and the indie pubbed Bridesmaid series. Brenda Novak says: “Season of Change has found a place on my keeper shelf”. Melinda also writes independently published, hotter romances as Mel Curtis. Jayne Ann Krentz says of Blue Rules: “Sharp, sassy, modern version of a screwball comedy from Hollywood's Golden Age except a lot hotter.”
