Falling in Love Author Jo Noelle + $.99 Book and $25 Giveaway!

 https://amzn.to/2NS1EBI

Secondhand Hearts by Jo Noelle As a member of a top country-western band, Chase has the money and fame he's always wanted. When he meets the beautiful woman who owns Treasure Mountain Pawn, he has to hide both of those things from the one person he wants to know everything about him. When Elena sees Chase for the first time, his turquoise eyes and tousled brown hair convince her that she might believe in insta-love. Just in time, her brain takes over, reminding her that her business is in trouble, making her future uncertain—not a good time for love. But being with Chase is as easy as following her heart, until she finds he has a secret big enough to break it.

Elena looked around the business her dad had built—a thirty-six-hundred-square-foot legacy with iron bars on the windows called Treasure Mountain Pawn, that had passed on to her. “Elena, I got ya something I think ya need.” Tug walked toward the back of the store. “We agreed. No presents,” she called over her shoulder, but he continued toward the storage room as if he hadn’t heard her. Something I need? I need a huge inheritance from a long-lost relative. Or a millionaire business partner. Or to win a lottery as soon as possible. The bell on the front door jingled again, drawing Elena out of her wishes. Tug had turned the sign to “Closed” when Lucas left, but apparently, he’d forgotten to lock it. Glancing up, she found herself looking into turquoise eyes. Not blue, not green, but somehow both. His brown hair was perfectly tousled, and there was a shadow across his jaw, not like he forgot to comb or shave, but like he knew he rocked that look—complete with rolling a guitar pick between his fingers. His sleeves were pushed up, revealing muscular arms ribbed with veins. He walked toward her in a black button up—tight across his broad shoulders and obviously muscular chest, and then tucked into slim blue jeans behind a large belt buckle. He wore western boots, expensive but not flashy. She couldn’t help taking him in. Oh, my gosh! She could hardly breathe. Everything she found attractive in a man was wrapped up in one neat package.

Promises and Primroses by Josi S. Kilpack

Lord Elliott Mayfield aims to correct the very messy marital mistakes and spousal scandals of his brothers and sisters by requiring his nieces and nephews to choose worthy companions. If they choose wisely, they will receive their generous share of the family’s inheritance.

Peter, Elliott’s eldest nephew, thinks the entire idea is ridiculous. A widower with two young daughters, he simply needs a governess, not a wife. Julia Hollingsworth certainly has the credentials and the experience, but is altogether too young and pretty for such a job. So why can’t he stop thinking about her?

Julia loves working as a governess, despite the objections of her mother, Amelia. And as it turns out, Amelia has a lot to say about the Mayfield men—none of it good. But Julia dismisses the rumors of ruined reputations and instead concentrates on helping Peter with his children and his fledgling business in canine husbandry. His kindness and gentleness is endearing—and increasingly attractive.

But Amelia, whose heart was broken thirty years ago by none other than Elliott Mayfield, is determined to prevent any relationship from blooming either between Peter and Julia—or between herself and Elliott.

Hearts and history collide as both couples must face their pasts and decide if risking it all is worth the promise of new love and a new future.

Josi Kilpack is an author I have complete confidence in.  I know that no matter what she writes, I am going to enjoy it.  She has ventured into some varying genres over the years and I am always so impressed with her ability to write such great stories.

This is the beginning of a new series and it gives us a great introduction to a family, led by an uncle that is trying to change their bad reputations.  You just have to know that this set up will bring us several interesting characters!  Honestly, I was completely confused and a little overwhelmed as I studied the family tree in the beginning of the book.  I eventually gave up and decided to just start the story and refer back if I needed to.  I think the family tree will be more helpful in future books as more characters are introduced.

I really loved Peter in this story.  He is so determined to do everything exactly right and properly.  Given his history, this mentality makes perfect sense.  But unfortunately, love rarely makes perfect sense.  Poor Peter is really thrown for a loop.

Julia is everything lovely.  I would love to have her as a friend.

There are two separate story lines happening in this book, sort of intertwining their way around each other.  I liked the alternating voices which gave me a chance to understand the character's way of thinking and (kind of) like them even when they were acting very unlikable.  (Amelia!)

I'm excited to see where this new series takes us!

Happy Release Day to A Worthy Rebel (An Uncertain Choice #5) by Jody Hedlund!

A desperate noblewoman, a rebellious peasant, and a forbidden love.

While fleeing an arranged betrothal to a heartless lord, Lady Isabelle becomes injured and lost. Rescued by a young peasant man, she hides her identity as a noblewoman for fear of reprisal from the peasants who are bitter and angry toward the nobility.

Cole Warwick cannot turn his back on a person in need and soon finds himself falling for Izzy, the gentle and beautiful runaway who is mending in his cottage. As the leader of an imminent uprising against the nobility, he tries to resist his growing feelings for Izzy to protect her from the dangerous life he’s chosen. But the longer she stays, the more he hopes she’ll never leave.

When Izzy’s true identity is revealed, Cole feels betrayed. With the rebellion underway, can Cole forgive Izzy and find a way to save her from an unhappy marriage? Or will he and his peasant army be destroyed before he has the chance to fight for the people and the woman he loves?

 * Amazon * Goodreads

I really, really love this series so it's a happy day when a new book releases!  Yay!

I think I loved Izzy and Cole from the very beginning.  They are both loyal and kind.  Cole is a fierce defender and leader for his people who are downtrodden and suffering.   He is smart and strong but he is also gentle and kind.  It's an awesome combination and I both loved and admired him.  I think the way he went from pretending to all in with Izzy was sigh worthy.  He didn't hum and haw too long, he knew and he jumped in.  He knew what he wanted, he let Izzy know and then pursued it.  Yumma.

Izzy is so determined to help her people.  She wants to be something noble and live up to her position and duty but doesn't know exactly how to do that, especially when she feels like she is living in her sister's shadow.  I thought she was brave and kind.  Especially in the end.  She was a rock star.  I really loved her.

The forward momentum was good and I was invested in the story the whole way through.  This is a fantastic addition to this series!  yay!

The Shipbulider's Wife by Jennifer Moore + $25 and Book Giveaway!

The day of her parents' garden party dawns bright as Lydia Prescott eagerly anticipates a marriage proposal from a handsome and wealthy plantation owner. The lovely debutante plans to steal a moment away with her beau, but her plans go terribly awry. Instead of her intended, she is joined by a stranger the largest man she's ever laid eyes on. And it is clear Jacob Steele is there for reasons far more sober than the party. With British raids erupting all around them, it is his job to reassure plantation owners of their safety. In reality, however, Jacob is an espionage agent, and the truth is dire: America is on the verge of invasion by the British.

Blissfully unaware of the danger surrounding her, Lydia basks in the glow of her recent engagement. But her joy is short-lived—a surprise British attack results in a devastating wound, and her plans for the future are shattered. Lost in her devastation, Lydia could never dream that Jacob, that giant of a man she met so briefly, would prove to be her saving grace. And with a war raging around them, she may be called upon to save him too.

There is just something about historical fiction books that sing to my heart.  I really love a well done historical fiction.  This one was perfect for me because it was set during a pivotal time in US history.  The British are invading, raids are happening, people are dying.  Both Lydia and Jacob are caught in the middle.  There was a good balance of plot and character building.

I felt like I knew both Lydia and Jacob and I felt their growth throughout the book.  Their relationship progression felt believable and genuine which is so important to me as a reader.  I loved Lydia's spunk and determination and I also loved her vulnerable moments.  I could actually say the exact same thing about Jacob.  He is rock steady in his determination to America's cause but when it comes to matters of the heart, he is so unsure.  It made him so endearing!

Like I said before, this book really hit my sweet spot and I enjoyed it so much.  This is one of my favorite times in history to read about!

Falling in Love: Author Julie Wright, $25 Giveaway and $.99 Book Deal!

Ever since Emma read Pride and Prejudice, she's been in love with Mr. Darcy and has regarded Jane Austen as the expert on all things romantic. So naturally when Emma falls for Blake Hampton and he invites her home to meet his parents, she is positive an engagement is in her future. After all, Blake is a single man in possession of a good fortune, and thus must be in want of a wife. But when it turns out that what Blake actually wants is more of a hook-up than a honeymoon, Emma is hurt, betrayed, and furious. She throws herself deeper into her work as CMO of Kinetics, the fastest growing gym franchise in the nation. She loves her work, and she's good at it, which is why she bristles when her boss brings in a consultant to help her spearhead the new facilities on the East Coast. Her frustration turns to shock when that consultant turns out to be Blake's younger brother, Lucas. Emma is determined not to fall for Lucas, but as she gets to know him, she realizes that Lucas is nothing like his brother. He is kind and attentive and spends his time and money caring for the less fortunate. What she can't understand is why Lucas continues to try to push her back into Blake's arms when he so clearly has fallen as hard for her as she has fallen for him. Realizing that her love life is as complicated as anything Jane Austen could have dreamed up, Emma must find a way to let Blake know that it's time for him to let her go and to let Lucas know it's time for him to love her back.
