Here is something you may not know about me.  I hardly ever read the blurbs for books.  Especially if I know the author and it's a second book in a series or something like that.  I just like to be surprised and know nothing ahead of time that might sway me one way or another.  I have read two other books by this author and never even thought to read the blurb for this book.  So, I can honestly say that I was taken completely by surprise when I got to the point where Grace accidently enters a portal and travels through time to 1918.  (even though it isn't a secret, it's right there in the blurb!)  

I was really enjoying the growing relationship between Grace and Joel.  I knew something must be coming, but I didn't expect that!  I thought maybe somebody else would be traveling and join them or something.  It took me so off guard that I was a little, dare I say, angry?  I put the book down and walked away!  ha.  I guess that tells you how invested I was in Joel, Grace and their relationship.  How dare the author rip them apart like that?!

But, yes, I came back to the book.  You know, like 5 mintues later.  Because I had to know.

This was a good sequel to The Mine.  I loved sharing more time with Joel and Grace.  The author keeps the time travel concept easy so my mind isn't filled with mind boggeling details.  Relationships are what drive this story and I really liked it.  It was easy, take me away for awhile, reading.

Content:  Some mild swearing.  Sexual activity you know happens but is not talked about, no details.
