Oh. My. Goodness. Taylor Dean! What are you doing to me?!
Wait. Pause. First, I have to start with this. Taylor Dean is one of my favorite authors and I'll tell you why. Her books are always filled with real emotions that completely suck me in, heart and mind. "I Have People" was my first book by Taylor Dean. I was so in love with it and how it made me feel. I went right out and picked up another book, then another. I have read everything she has written. I'm a fan, through and through. She is always an author I recommend to everyone asking. If you haven't read anything by this author, please, please do it.
Now, back to the beginning. Taylor Dean! What are you doing to me?!?!?!
I am really not in the habit of reading book blurbs by authors I know and love. I like coming into things blind and being completely surprised. I feel like nothing could have prepared me for this book, even the book blurb. My heart. I swear it will never be the same. Taylor is right up front that this book contains heartbreak. She isn't kidding. It's a fair warning. I got through the first chapter- which was sad!- and I thought to myself, "okay, I made it through that. I'm okay. Sad, but okay." I thought I was through the worst of it. Hahahahahahaha. <sigh> I should have known better.
I'm not going to give anything away here. I can't really talk about the book without giving things away. I will just say this: it took me days to emotionally recover from this book. My heart was fully invested in every single emotion happening. That's how Taylor Dean does things. She doesn't shy away from the raw and the gritty. The highs are high and the lows are low. It's amazing. But hang on to your hearts with this one, friends, because it's a doozy of a ride!
Content: intimate relations between a married couple are talked about in a general way, with no details. Peril, mild violence, innuendo (between a married couple), kissing.
