HOPE FOR CHRISTMAS Anika Fletcher hates Christmas--its promises of good tidings and hope for the future are as tinseled as the ornaments on Kenworth's Hope Tree. Despite her feelings, Anika wants to maintain her daughter's faith in the magic of the season and gladly accepts a second job working with the handsome Carlos Rodriguez to restore Kenworth's old fashioned soda fountain. Carlos is no stranger to hard times and slowly shares his life of light and joy with Anika as they work together. Just as her fragile soul begins to feel hope again, an ill-timed act of charity changes everything. Anika isn't sure who she can trust or if hope is worth nurturing--especially at Christmas when it's easy to enjoy a kiss and believe love can last longer than the season.

THE KISS THIEF As the head librarian of the Echo Ridge Library, Britta Klein thrives on order and categorization. Unfortunately, the old church-turned-library is in desperate need of a renovation. The Harvest Hurrah fundraiser seems to be the answer, but plans keep going awry. With help from Milo Geissler, accomplished musician, piano tuner, and kiss thief, each catastrophe is narrowly avoided. When Milo goes to great lengths to help Britta find a key classic book, she begins to wonder if there is more to life than books and order. Can she allow this man who speaks the language of music to tune her heart to a new song? Welcome to Echo Ridge, New York where romance finds its way into the hearts and lives of the people who walk the streets of the close-knit community. NOTE TO READER: THIS VERSION of The Kiss Thief contains a BONUS EPILOGUE!

THE PRINCESS BRIDE OF RIODAN When a mysterious man offers to help Elise redecorate the old Bed & Breakfast, she gladly hands him a wallpaper steamer. After she discovers his true identity, she doesn’t know whether to curtsy or run and hide. Unfortunately, hiding isn’t an option because her heart is already tangled up with the handsome prince. At the same time, Elise’s old crush from high school wants a relationship and she’s forced to decide whether to chase after a fairy tale ending or stay grounded in reality.

COMING HOME TO LOVE Do you remember your first love? Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had a second chance to follow your heart? When Laney Richins left Echo Ridge, New York eight years ago, she vowed she’d never return, but life had other plans. Those plans included her cute little boy and a divorce, so Laney moved back home and started over. Working in the flower shop seems like the perfect plan until Billy Redford, the man she should have married shows up. Billy Redford’s heart was broken when his high school sweetheart turned her back on him and fled Echo Ridge for the big city lights. Running into Laney in Echo Ridge now brings up past feelings he thought were long gone. She’s prettier than ever, still seems to read his mind, and despite his protests ends up on the building and decorating committee with him for the Homecoming dance. Billy knows how to build just about anything, but he isn’t sure he knows how to mend a broken heart.

The Fearless Warrior: Navy SEAL Romances 2.0 by Kimberly Krey

When Jace moves in with Amy to protect her from a predator, romance blooms, and Amy wonders who will protect her heart.

Denver’s Average Amy does TV reviews for the latest trends, but when her name ends up on a human trafficking website, life feels anything but average. Especially when old crush turned hot Navy SEAL Jace Burns shows up at her door offering protection. Protection from who? What? And did she already mention hot?

Jace Burns is known for his fearless nature. He’s risked his life overseas, endured time as a prisoner of war, and was even presumed dead. Too bad all that goes out the window when he comes face to face with Amy Nelson. He hadn’t paid close attention to her in high school but he’s paying attention now.

While romantic sparks fly and the danger begins to grow, one question fills Amy’s mind: Are Jace’s feelings real, or is he using her to help take down the threat?

 * Goodreads * Amazon

 Ummmmm.  Yumma.  Yes.

I think that right there is enough of a positive endorsement that you should read this book but I guess I'll try to drum up a few more complete sentences just in case you need more.

I loved that Jace and Amy have history.  They knew each other before, in high school, so their attraction wasn't something new.  It provided a fun starting point when they cross paths again.  Yay for zingy attraction and yummy kisses.  Jace just oozes manly strength, with the smarts to back it up.  He's playing for keeps and it's so attractive.

Also, the main character's name is Amy Nelson.  That's pretty much my name (first name spelled a little different, and before I was married, but still)  Every time I read it, it just felt so weird.  My name.  In my head.  But not me.  haha

This is the perfect book to snatch up when you are looking for romantic "take me away" story.  The added bit of light suspense was bonus for me.  I loved it.

Content:  mild violence, human trafficking, kissing

Breaking Jess by H.B. Moore

What do a crooked detective, an upstanding psychiatrist, and a teenager who can’t remember killing her parents all have in common? Nine years of lies.
He hid her away from society so she couldn’t turn him in. But, in the end, he couldn’t hide her forever.

Review by Jaalah:

Breaking Jess was such a good read from start to finish. I found myself hanging onto the words in suspense- waiting for the next discovery in this engaging mystery. I thought I knew from the beginning what was going to happen (I’m good at guessing the who-done-it), but when the big climax did roll around, I was completely satisfied to find an ending better than I expected. H. B. Moore did more than just the perfect mystery, however. Readers are also provided with a realistic tale, intriguing and complex characters, and a twist of love that seems tangible and complicated. Through the whole book, I found myself waiting on edge for what was going to happen next to Jess and Logan, and as things began to play out, my poor husband heard every detail. That’s what constitutes a good book when you can’t help but share the story.

Content:  mild swearing, some violence, implied sexual situation with no details

Night at the Opera (An American Heiress Book 1) by Stacy Henrie + Win This Book!

When American heiress Gwen Barton aids an injured gentleman in an opera box in London, she shares a kiss with the stranger that changes her life. More determined than ever to be herself, in spite of the limp she’s sustained since childhood, she will marry for love and not a title. She also resolves to learn the identity of the man she helped—and kissed. Surely he can’t be the irritating Avery Winfield, though. But as circumstances continue to throw Gwen and Avery together, she begins to wonder if there is more to this man than she first thought.

While most of London only knows him as the nephew of a duke, Avery Winfield is actually working for the Secret Service Bureau to ferret out German spies from among the ton. It’s a profession that gives him purpose and a reason to remain a bachelor. But the more he interacts with Gwen Barton, an heiress from America, the more he begins to question his plans and neglected faith. Then he learns Gwen is the young lady from the opera box who helped him. Now his most important mission may have nothing to do with saving Britain from danger and everything to do with risking his heart for the woman he met that night at the opera.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

First I have to say that I really love this cover.  It feels so classy to me and is a great representation of what lies inside.

This book has the most excellent first meet between Gwen and Avery!  They can't even see each other clearly and they have no idea who they are meeting, but yum, is it good.  It set the tone for the whole book with the intrigue and mystery and I really loved it.

The characters felt solid in my mind, believable and so easy to like.  I was drawn to them from the very beginning.  As their interactions increased in frequency, the build up of emotions and mystery also increased.  It all felt very gentle but the arc was definitely there and I couldn't help but feel it.  I really loved the ending too.  It left me with all sorts of fuzzy, good feelings

Content:  mild peril, kissing

Cover Reveal: Piper Prince by Amber Argyle

Piper Prince
Amber Argyle
(Forbidden Forest #2)
Publication date: April 2019
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
All magic is light. If that light be darkened, shadow and punishment come.
Long ago, a curse fell upon the land—a curse of forgetting and wraiths, a curse that ensured no daughters were born to the pied pipers in over three centuries. The pipers were all that stood between the humanity and utter destruction, so they did the only thing they could: they stole the daughters of the nearby kingdom with their hypnotizing melodies. With the sons born from those unions, they continued to defend against the wraiths and fight the curse, even though they were slowly losing.
Larkin was one of those daughters. Stolen by Denan and married against her will, she found herself falling in love with the very man who had taken everything from her, the man who had made her a princess. Together, they discovered that she was the first woman in three centuries to possess the magic of the pipers, and therefore, the only person capable of breaking the ancient curse.
But breaking the curse means unraveling the very past the curse is intent on keeping secret. The answer lies buried in the crypts of the Black Druids, men who consider Larkin a traitor they’ll kill on sight. Embedded in the intrigues of their court, she unearths a dark conspiracy destined to hasten the destructive power of the curse—a conspiracy aimed at destroying her piper prince.

The Rancher's Rescue (Return of the Blackwell Brothers #2) by Cari Lynn Webb

He isn’t home to stay

Until a mother-to-be changes his mind
Ethan Blackwell is back in Falcon Creek to save his family ranch after his grandfather disappears. When Grace Gardner reveals she’s pregnant with his child, she becomes Ethan’s top priority. But can he be the man he wants to be—preserving the Blackwell legacy and making a life with Grace—in a place he never planned to settle down?

 * Amazon * Goodreads

I am really loving this series!  Each book is about a different Blackwell brother and each book is written by a different author which gives the brothers distinct personalities.  There is continuity because each brother is entering the story at a different time for specific reasons so the story keeps growing and the characters from previous books remain as secondary characters.  It's so good!

Ethan has definite ideas about where he wants his life to be and it isn't at the Blackwell ranch.  He is stubborn and he fights so hard against anything and everything to do with staying there.  And then there is Grace, who wants nothing more than to stay right where she is forever.  Grace works so hard and is so dedicated to her family.  I really loved her.

I thought the story moved along at a good pace and I was interested and invested the whole time.  I'm so excited to read about the next brother!  That book is coming next month for me so stay tuned!  These books would make a fun TV series, I think.

Content:  reference to intimate relations outside of marriage leading to pregnancy with no details.  Clean romance, some kissing.

Tabitha's Folly (Regency House Party: Somerstone #5) by Jen Geigle Johnson + $25 Giveaway

Tabitha's Folly is one of Five books all set at the same Regency House Party Series. While each is a standalone story, watch our characters mingle together with others from the books in the series. The stories can be read in any order.

Lady Tabitha Easton recklessly dodges four over-protective brothers while trying to gain attention from the man who holds her heart. She has many choices of suitors, and with Henry as disinterested as ever, she turns to what is wholly forbidden, an irresistibly handsome footman. While their friendship grows, her trust in him increases while her hurt and doubt in her childhood love and friend pushes her away from all she's ever known as family.

When Lord Henry Courtenay discovers a new attraction to his childhood friend, his role as one of her chaperones at the house party becomes near impossible. Irrationally defensive about any potential suitors and seeking time alone with the enticing Tabby, maintaining friendship with her brothers proves more difficult than he ever imagined. His task becomes all the more difficult when she refuses to understand his growing attraction and often finds herself in almost compromising situations.

When Tabitha's choices might lead her to danger, and doubt and distrust are high, Henry must prove himself or lose her forever.

 * Amazon * Goodreads

How fun is this idea of five books by five different authors, all with characters set at the same Regency House Party?!  I must admit that I haven't read any of the other books, but I am anxious to now that I have read this one.  You can check out the whole series HERE.

Tabitha is definitely a sweet yet somewhat naive young lady.  She sometimes acts without thinking and that gets her into a wee bit of trouble.  With a whole brood of brothers trailing her around constantly, you would think trouble would be hard to come by but not for Tabitha.  Let's just say her fall into the river may have been her best bit of trouble!

This story is short and I was so surprised when I got to the end.  I wasn't quite ready for it to be over.   Very enjoyable!

An award winning author, including the GOLD in Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards, Jen Geigle Johnson discovered her passion for England while kayaking on the Thames near London as a young teenager.
She once greeted an ancient turtle under the water by grabbing her fin. She knows all about the sound a water-ski makes on glassy water and how to fall down steep moguls with grace. During a study break date in college, she sat on top of a jeep's roll bars up in the mountains and fell in love.

Now, she loves to share bits of history that might otherwise be forgotten. Whether in Regency England, the French Revolution, or Colonial America, her romance novels are much like life is supposed to be: full of adventure. The Cost of Betrayal (The Cost of Betrayal) by Dee Henderson, Dani Pettrey, Lynette Eason

In Dee Henderson's novella "Betrayal," Janelle Roberts is freed--thanks to people she doesn't know--after serving six years of a twenty-year sentence for a murder she did not commit. But a murderer is still at large, and Janelle needs to be somewhere safe with someone she can trust. She may not survive another betrayal.

In Dani Pettrey's "Deadly Isle," Tennyson Kent is trapped on the isolated island of her childhood by a storm surge, and she is shocked when the typically idyllic community turns into the hunting grounds of a murderer. Cut off from any help from the mainland, will she and first love Callen Frost be able to identify and stop a killer bent on betrayal before they become the next victims?

In Lynette Eason's "Code of Ethics," trauma surgeon Ruthie St. John saves the life of Detective Isaac Martinez. After a betrayal leads to him getting shot and then attacked while in recovery, Isaac is now a key witness determined to testify. But someone is intent on silencing him--and those around him--forever. Together, Ruthie and Isaac go on the run, desperate to escape the killers hunting him.

 * Amazon * Goodreads

I am a fan of these three authors so I was giddy with anticipation when I got this book.  I love books with both romance and suspense which is what attracts me to these authors and their books over and over.

Of the three books, I would have to say that Dani Pettrey's was my favorite with Lynette Eason's a close second.  Both of these books had fantastic pacing and had my heart beating a little faster than normal.  I loved how they felt complete and full despite being a little bit shorter than usual novels.   I wasn't a fan of this story by Dee Henderson.  I felt like it was slow and there was so much missing.  The suspense was not there at all.  I'm not sure what happened there because I usually really love Dee Henderson's books.  I hope there will be more collections like this one!

Awakening Avery (Second Chance Romance #3) by Laurie L.C. Lewis

"You're depressed," the doctor declared.

"Ya think?" is author Avery Elkins Thompson's sarcastic response. She can’t pull out from the malaise that set in following her husband's untimely death, and her adult children fear they are losing her too.

She can't write, and questions about their father's death leave the family mired in pain. "We need a healing place," her oldest son tells her, suggesting she find it on Anna Maria Island, Florida, a former family vacation spot.

When Avery returns to Baltimore to sell the family's waterfront condo, she meets rodeo-ers-turned-real-estate-brokers Teddie and Rider Davis, and Avery's quiet life will never be the same again. The Davises help arrange a short-term house swap with widower Gabriel Carson from Anna Maria, whose overprotective parenting has resulted in two self-centered, twenty-something daughters. Avery and Gabriel are in for the summer of their lives as they step into one another's messy, complicated worlds.

Still, venturing out on her own again is challenging for Avery, whose experiences at the Ringling's magnificent Ca d'Zan mansion, and with the quirky characters she meets there, eventually awaken her to truths she desperately needs to remember—that God has not forgotten her, and as crazy as life can be, it is possible to laugh and love again.

 * Amazon * Goodreads

This book caught my interest initially because the main character in this book is of a more mature age.  Her children are adults and she is well into her life and career.  It felt like a good change up in reading for me.

Avery is a likeable person, a bit lost and still reeling after the death of her husband, but still moving.  Her children are a good addition to the story and a believable motivating factor in her desire to pull herself together and make those initial moves to change things.

This story felt like a real life soap opera of sorts.  There were a LOT of characters, each with their own challenges, intertwining into one story.  I sometimes felt overwhelmed with all the characters and found myself wishing I could just concentrate on feeling with a few of them verses looking in from the outside because I didn't have time to settle in fully with any of them.  Avery was the prominent character and the center of all the characters moving around her.  Her personal journey was gratifying to follow as she emerges from the depths of hurt and frustration to be joyful and fulfilled again.

“Mama, you were dreaming.” Gideon’s thumb stroked the top of her hand, his voice soft and soothing. “Look at me, Mama, and you will see.”
Maeve slowly turned her head, tears now spilling down her cheeks. “Oh Gideon, it was ghastly.” “What did you dream?”
“It was not a dream.” Her voice faltered. “Your cousin, Ian, is dead.”
“What? Did you receive a letter from Scotland?” Gideon had not seen any correspondence from his mother’s family over the last week, and nothing had arrived today.
“I do not need a letter. I saw it. There has been a terrible slaughter in Manchester, and Ian was trampled by a Hussar’s charger...” She lifted her chin and wiped her wet cheeks with determination. “You must take me home to my clan.”
“To the Highlands? You haven’t been there since your wedding.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I can’t just run off to Scotland with my aging mother because of a dream.”
“Aging?” Her eyes narrowed, anger shining from beneath her lashes. “I have more stamina than most of those mutton-headed females of the ton.” He had to agree with her but bit back a smile.
“This is folly. A trick of the mind from lack of sleep.” He pressed his lips to her fingers. “Let’s have a glass of sherry, and you’ll feel better after we eat.”
“Don’t patronize me. Your father didn’t believe in…” She took his face in both her hands, strength growing in her touch and her gaze steady and direct. “It doesn’t matter. Listen to me. It was not a dream but a message that we are needed at home.”
“This is our home.” Gideon stood and leaned an arm against the fireplace mantel, worried the past year had also taken a toll on her mind. An uprising in Manchester? There had been rumblings throughout parts of the country but nothing significant.
“This is your home. Mine has always been in Scotland, regardless of how long I’ve been away.” Her eyes pleaded with him.
“What about Marietta’s visit in September?” That would end this foolishness, he was sure.
“It will have to wait until October. You must promise we will leave as soon as you return from London. Or I will go alone.” He looked up to the ceiling, hoping for some divine intervention. None came.
“I give you my word.”
