It's always fun to connect with others in this hop. There are so many great bloggers out there. Today's question:
I would rather read my favorite book over and over. But, here's the thing, and I'm sure you have found this too. Everyone is different. A mediocre book to me may just be a great treasure to someone else. Because we come from different places in life and we think and feel differently, books touch us in different ways. Who am I to say the book you love is mediocre? It may not be MY favorite, but if it's yours then good on you. Plus, sometimes you pick up a book someone has labeled "mediocre" and find a great treasure yourself. Having said that, most people can recognize a fabulously written book. It becomes a favorite among the masses. There are many books I could read over and over and be completely happy. :) A great question this week! What are your thoughts?
Haha :) I actually love about every book I read. If it's good enough for me to finish it, I generally give it at least a 3.

Wow, that is probably the best, most well thought out post I've read this Friday. I agree completely. Sometimes I read a book and I rate it 5 stars even though in the back of my mind I know it's not probably a 5 star book but something in it makes me fall in love with it and for me it IS a 5 star book even though others may not think so.

Nice answer. Yes, it's true, many times a book we consider mediocre is someone else's favorite.

I'm not a re-reader. Afraid I'll miss something. I do kind of envy the re-reader because they enjoy it so much. Not sure I would.

Nice blog! I would reread a favorite for certain. I get bored too easily to read through 100's of mediocre books.

So true! Of course I was thinking that the 100 books were mediocre in my line of sight or whatever! But yeah, rather read a fave over and over again instead of 100 books that are just blah. Reading, for me, is about enjoying what you read to the fullest!

I think that this a really understandable answer, even though I chose the 100 mediocre books. I just can't imagine having only one story to indulge in - maybe thats just me being greedy though!

I have to agree. There is one book that everyone raves about. I haven't seen a bad review of it, but it took me a month to read it. I skimmed the last half of the book. I just didn't like it. I never name the book because I don't want the backlash. So what someone may love, may not be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI find that I am one that likes most books I read for one reason or another.

I agree with you about everyone not liking the same books. I also would rather read my favorite over and over.

Wow that's a deep answer. I can't read books over and over no matter how much I love them just because I would get bored, so I would have to choose the other answer.
