Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson- A Ripple Effect Romance + a $25 Giveaway

Seven years ago, Cambri Blaine fled her small hometown of Bridger, Colorado after her senior year ended in a fiasco. Only Jace Sutton knew the real reason why—that she was a spineless coward. Now, seven years later, her father's been in an accident and needs help, and Cambr has no choice but to return home. So with trepidation, she takes a leave of absence from the landscape architecture firm where she works and boards a plane, hoping against hope that Jace is no longer around and that the past can stay where it belongs—in the past. If only life worked that way. Jace never expected to see Cambri again. After she’d led him on, bruised his heart, and left town without a backward glance, he was forced to pick up the pieces and try not to hate her for it. Eventually, he put it behind him and moved on, creating a life for himself in his beloved hometown. But now that Cambri is back and looking more beautiful and sophisticated than ever, some of those old feelings resurface, and Jake instinctively knows, for the sake of his heart, that he needs to avoid her at all costs. If only it were that easy.

Woo-hoo!  I’m loving this Ripple Effect series!  I feel like such a lucky girl to be reading and reviewing them.  Righting a Wrong is written by Rachel Anderson and I just LOVE Rachel’s writing so I was especially looking forward to this one.  J

Cambri has returned to the home she once knew to help care for her father as he recovers from a heart attack.  It’s been a long time since she left and coming home brings up all sorts of memories and emotions.  When Cambri runs into her old best friend, Jace, she can’t help but remember how good she felt when she spent time with him.  She’s lived years without him, but has never forgotten how he made her feel.  She has never found anyone to compare to him but she left without looking back and she cut all ties to him in a desperate attempt to follow her dreams and become something outside the little town she grew up in.  Now she wants to apologize and reclaim that friendship (and hopefully something more!) but she just doesn’t know how.

We got to know Jace a bit in the last book.  I’m sure glad he got his own story with a happily ever after too.  You couldn’t help but feel a bit bad for the guy in Silver Linings.  But here, in Righting a Wrong, Jace finally gets a second chance at a love he thought he had lost forever.

I love both Cambri and Jace.  You can feel the camaraderie and friendship they once had rebuild and establish once again.  Thank goodness Cambri had the courage to apologize and accept the blame.  It started the change that led to the reconnection.

There is also a struggling connection between Cambri and her father.  They express emotion and communicate in very different ways.  It was in the exchanges between Cambri and her father that I really came to love Cambri.  She is trying to help and understand her father but most of the time she just doesn’t.  I love that she won’t be bullied and stands up to her father but does it with love and a desire to take care of him.

I really loved this book.  Hopefully you will too.  This is such a sweet, clean romance series. Such a fun idea.  The next book in the series is going to be a fun one!  I can't wait to get started on it!

Silver Linings by Kaylee Baldwin: Review, Excerpt and $25 Giveaway!

Drew Westfall wants nothing more than to forget what he had to do in the name of "smart" business. Cutting off all ties with his parents—including handing over the entire contents of his trust fund to a charity—he takes off for Bridger, Colorado where his best friend has an extra room for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go. Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she have to sell her house to pay for her mother’s medical expenses, but she also had to drop out of school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she chooses to spend most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Assisted Living. When she learns that her boyfriend's new roommate is down on his luck, her caring nature makes her want to reach out to him and offer what help she can. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated things get, especially when the seniors of Silver Linings decide to play matchmaker.

I sure am loving these books in the Ripple Effect series. Clean romance is one of my all time, favorite genres and this series is perfect for me. I love all these authors and these books leave me feeling happy.

Silver Linings was so sweet. The main character, Eden, has so, so much on her plate. Emotionally especially. Her mother is struggling with (and dying from) lung cancer. This especially hit close to home as my mother in law recently passed away with the same struggle. I could easily identify with Eden and the tremendous load she carried as she cared for her mother on top of working to make sure they had enough money to survive.

I especially loved the sense of community that is unfolded, bit by bit. The people who surround Eden love her and want to help. Drew becomes a large part of that as well. I just loved him. His heart is full of goodness and generosity. Drew had a brief cameo in the first book in this series, Home Matters. We didn’t really know anything about him and his random decision to donate all his inheritance so I’m glad we got a closer, more personal look into Drew and his motives.

This was just a sweet, feel good book. I loved reading it and I’m so happy to be a part of this continued blog tour. New books in this series come out every few weeks and in the end will make an awesome collection to be read and re-read.

Home Matters by Julie N. Ford (A Ripple Effect Romance) and a $25 Giveaway!

According to her mother, Olivia Pembroke was born to be a star. But how is she supposed to be famous when she can't even get a decent acting gig? Her lucky break comes when she lands an audition for a wildly popular home improvement show. Even though she has no design training and has never even held a power tool, she refuses to let that stop her. She's confident that her destiny is finally within reach. When her affections are torn between her heartthrob co-host and the irritating, yet somehow endearing lead contractor, does she continue to reach for the stars? Or does she design a new happily ever after? One that leads not to the fading lights of fame and fortune, but to a love that will burn forever.

I'm so excited to be a part of the blog tour for this amazing set of books in the Ripple Effect Romance.  Each is written by a different author and this week we are kicking things off with Julie Ford's "Home Matters".

This was a great start to this series.  Have you ever watched HGTV?  Have you ever seen "Love It or List It"?  I could watch that show for hours, I think.  This book reminded me of that show.

One of the best things about this book is how alive and real the characters seemed to me.  I could easily picture them in my head.  I love Olivia's determination to succeed.  She wants this chance so badly.  Her focus has been so concentrated on achieving this goal of making it big that when she gets it, it's hard to recognize that it may not be what she wants after all.  She feels a constant struggle between being true to herself and pleasing other people.

William- so handsome, suave and so full of himself.  His ego literally fills up the room and pushed everything else out.  He was so easy to picture.

Pete sees the potential in Olivia.  He sees who she could be if she would just believe in herself and follow what her heart is telling her.  I really loved Pete.  I think I loved him just because he really saw Olivia, not as a host for a show but as a person.  His methods of proving things to Olivia were a bit out there, but his heart was always in the right place.

This was the perfect book to curl up with and lose myself in for a little while.  It was cute, sweet and littered with chemistry.  I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series!  So much fun.

Enjoy the following excerpt and see what I mean about William's ego and then check out the book trailer.  :)

Knock, knock, knock. “William.” Knock, knock, knock. “William.” Olivia’s knuckles stung from her vigorous rapping, but she hit them against the hotel room door again anyway. Knock, knock, knock. “William.”

She’d never physically been to his room, but she was more or less sure this was the room number he’d given her. An ear pressed against the cool wood panel, she held quiet an impatient moment, listening for evidence that William was on the other side. And given that the clock had yet to strike the eight a.m. hour, she suspected he was not only in there, but more than likely still fast asleep.

Her fist poised to begin another round of knocking, she held back upon hearing the sound of throat clearing coming from the other side. “Olivia, darling, why are you Sheldon- Coopering my door?” William asked.
Relief washed over her panicked body. She collapsed against the door. “Something’s happened,” she pled. “I need to talk to you. Open up. Please.

William cracked the door and leaned out his head. “Sweetie, can’t it wait? I’m not properly dressed,” he apologized, but Olivia ignored his reservations. Strong- arming the door open, she barged in. “All-righty then,” he said as she breezed past him. “What could be so important, it couldn’t keep until a less ungodly hour?”

Olivia skidded to a stop in the middle of a posh living area, her focus scanning from the mini bar and kitchenette to a fifty-inch flat screen TV, then through a set of doors, into another room, and on to a four-poster, king-sized bed. Her current predicament temporarily relocated to the backburner, all she could think was: “Your room . . . It’s so much bigger than mine.”

William chuckled. “That’s your idea of a crisis?” he said. “Welcome to the top of the mountain.”
