Burk's Surrender (Harmon Heritage #3) by Dora Hiers

Deputy City Manager Burk Harmon has always been the strong one for his family, but recently those responsibilities have dwindled. When Lacie Heatherton, Assistant Director for Parks and Recreation, ropes him into a city-sponsored trip to the mountains with fifty seniors, Burk has two things on his mind: considering a possible promotion and wooing Lacie past friendship and into a future. Lacie has emotional scars and a thirteen-year-old daughter to remind her that men can be cruel and unforgiving. Can Burk convince Lacie to relax her "no dating" policy or will he surrender his dreams of family and love?

I've had the pleasure of reading and reviewing all three books in this series and I have really, really enjoyed them.  The Harmon Heritage series is based on three siblings who have had a tough go in life.  Each of them deals with the hard things differently, but Burk has dealt the best, I think.  He has been the one to carry and support his family.  Now that his siblings are finally settled, Burk is able to turn his attention to his own life and finally go after what he wants.

I like Burk.  He is strong and he is a thinker.  He knows what he wants and he knows what he has to do to try to get it.  Burk is kind and knows how to show a girl that he cares.  I was all in and rooting for Burk from the very beginning.

The story flowed well.  The characters are flawed and endearing.  I was easily drawn into the story and I loved how it played out in my head.

My one peeve was how the author kept telling me how Burk and Lacie smelled.  In almost the exact same words, over and over.  I only need to be told once and maybe reminded in a different way another time.  I started rolling my eyes whenever the whole scent thing came up.  Enough with the smell thing already.

But, other than that, I really did enjoy this book.  This author has a great way of writing and I love how easily I can fall into her books.  This is a Christian fiction book.

Content:  Clean.  No swearing or sexual content.  Mention of rape but nothing in detail.

Beck's Peace (Harmon Heritage #2) by Dora Hiers

Burn survivor Savvy McCord doesn't blame her best friend for running away. She can't even look at her scars without wincing. When Beck's disappearing act spans years, she relinquishes dreams of love and marriage. Unable to face Savvy's expectations of happily-ever-after, Beck Harmon deserts her, far away from the rumors that he's just like his father. When the wanderer returns, dreams of forever blossom in Savvy's heart, but she worries he'll leave again. Can Beck convince Savvy that her true beauty comes from her inner strength and faith? Will his idea to help burn victims regain their self-confidence restore Savvy's trust in him? Will love be what the wanderer needs to find peace for his hurting soul?

Beck's Peace is the second book in the Harmon Heritage series.  I read the first book, Rori's Healing, not too long ago and really enjoyed it so picking up the next book for review was a no brainer.  I think Beck's Peace can stand alone but I think you will enjoy it more if you read Rori's Healing first.

Beck took off years ago leaving his family and friends behind.  He's been wandering the country, working and running from his past.  One of those people Beck left behind is Savvy, his friend, his love and his sister's best friend.

Savvy thought Beck loved her but then he saw her burn scars and took off, leaving her heart devastated.  Now he is back and trying to make amends but Savvy doesn't trust him but she still loves him.

Now Beck is trying to prove himself worthy.  He is fighting to help Savvy see her beauty- inside and out.

I loved this book.  I thought it was full of emotion and that tension that makes you want to keep reading.  Beck works so hard to make up for his absence with his family and Savvy.  He wants to be there for them.  The family connection was fantastic and I was really rooting for both Beck and Savvy the whole way.

Today is release day for Beck's Peace!  Yay!  No waiting, only reading.  :)  I hope you all enjoy this series as much as I have!

This is a clean romance.  Christian Fiction.  No swearing or sexual situations.

Rori's Healing (Harmon Heritage, Book 1) by Dora Hiers

Still stinging from the publicity surrounding her father's death, social phobic Rori Harmon prefers the solitude of her animal sanctuary, accepting that marriage isn’t in her future. Racecar Driver Graham Decker refuses to be wrangled into a relationship by another money-hungry female. On a philanthropy mission, he arrives just in time to assist Rori with a llama birthing, but his appearance thrusts her into the media spotlight again. Has Graham found a woman who doesn't care how deep his wallet extends? Has Rori finally met a man who will stick around when times get tough? Is healing for a hurting heart finally within Rori's reach?

Here's a new, clean romance releasing today!  Dora Hiers is a new author for me and I'm always happy to find new authors to love.

This book caught my attention right away.  Rori runs a animal sanctuary and has quite a few llamas under her care.  One of the llamas is ready to give birth and Rori is looking for a vet to show up and help her.  Graham happens on the situation for totally different reasons, but Rori mistakenly thinks Graham is the vet and he doesn't correct her.  It's a great way to start off the book and it immediately sucked me in.

I loved Graham and Rori.  I loved Rori's support system and how kind they were to her.  Graham is patient and persistent.  He knows he has to prove himself to Rori and earn her trust.  It was good stuff.

The only complaint I have is the cover for this book.  While a pretty cover, I feel like it doesn't represent what's inside at all.  I would have liked to have seen something that represented Rori and Graham better.

I read through this book quickly and had small tantrums in my head when I had to put it down.  :)  I can't wait to read the next book- hopefully about Rori's long lost brother who left his bride (and Rori's best friend) at the alter!

This is a clean romance- no swearing or sexual situations.  It is also Christian Fiction.
