Review: Until I Die by Amy Plum

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

I had this book the day it was released.  I've been waiting for it.  It took me a little bit to get around to reading it and it's taken me even longer to get around to writing up a review for it.   I wanted to read it when I could be completely distraction free so I could savor it and enjoy it.  (no laughing) It's an awesome dream, but just not so realistic.  Which is why I finally gave up on the perfect moment and just read it.

I can't tell you how much I am enjoying these books.  I know there are lots of bloggers out there who aren't sharing the love for this series, but I am.

I love the setting.  Someday I'm going to get myself to Paris and see it with my own eyes.  <sigh>  (again with the dreaming)

The Revenants are so interesting to me.  I just love Vincent (oops, another dream) and his friends.  They have created a family and they take care of each other.  I can't say that I always love Kate, but she has her moments.  I did enjoy seeing more of Kate's sister in this book.  I'm hoping for a happily ever after ending for her too.

The ending was maddening though.  I seriously have to wait a whole year to find out what's next?!  To leave me hanging like that was just plain mean.  That's the problem for me with these series books that always leave you at a serious cliff hanger.  No bueno.  I just finished reading Insurgent (review to come) and it was the same thing.  A girl could go crazy with so many books leaving me hanging like that.

Well, at least the next book is the "third and final".  I can't wait to read it.  I love this series.

Content:  some mild swearing, violence and sexual situations (although no sex)

  1. I really need to read the first one. I wasn't so sure about the series but your review reassures me. It also helps that the book is set in Paris, I cannot resist books set in Europe.

I can't wait to see your review on Insurgent. I really enjoyed the book it'll be great to see your opinion on it.

    1. I listened to Die for Me on my IPOD as an audio book. Maybe that made me love it more? It totally could have been those French accents...

  5. The end angered me/crushed my soul, too! I, too, love this series, and I can't wait for the third book. I love the fact that this series is set in Paris, too. I hate that the series is only a trilogy, but at the same time, I tend to like trilogies better. Anyway, great review! :D

  7. I love this series. I just don't understand why there are so many who don't. Both books have been incredibly well written. The characterization is amazing. There isn't a love triangle!!! And the setting of the novel, oh my. I can close my eyes and picture everything that is written in those pages. I love the characters. I am completely emotionally involved. I can find no wrong with it. Thanks for your review, and I am glad it is a positive one!

  9. I'll admit, I'm not a fan of this series. I had high hopes for the first book. When I was disappointed, I knew I'd give book 2 a try. Unfortunately, I found this one rather boring. The only reason why I'll read book 3 is because of the horrendous cliffhanger at the end of book 2.
