Do you love romantic suspense books?  I sure do and this series is one of my favorites.  Throw in a marriage of convenience and forced proximity, and you have a winning combination.  This author really knows how to pack a punch with the suspense while building a romantic tension too.  From beginning to end this story was exciting and I had a hard time pulling myself away when life called.

Isla is so strong.  So courageous.  I don't think I could have survived the way she did.  I loved her caring and artistic side.  Isla also had fantastic instincts and such a drive to protect and care for not only herself but others around her.  The trauma and emotional battles she faced were immense and I was rooting for her safety, health and healing with my whole heart.

I loved traveling through countries and across continents.  I love the Pressley-Coombes family.  I loved that both Ben and Isla were dealing with a bit of mystery and it all ended to dramatically.  It was so good.  

This is the fourth book in this series.  I don't think you have to read them in order but I would recommend that you do.  It's just more fun that way.

Secrets of St. Augustine: 5 stars

If you have read any of this author's books, Agent Doug Valdez will be familiar to you.  He's been in quite a few books so his character was familiar to me.  Even if you haven't read about him before, his general backstory is covered so you will have a good idea just how awesome he is.  This story is action packed and fast moving starting in France and then through Europe.  Poor Layla.  The history of her short life so far will break your heart.  Doug was the perfect person to cross paths with her and save her.  I loved this story!  (no romance here, but definitely love!)

Hounded:  3.5 stars

Author Clair Poulson is going at knowing his terminology and the way the police process works.  His stories always sound believable and reasonable.  There was a lot going on in this story, and there were a lot of people involved.  I didn't have trouble keeping them all straight, I just had trouble connecting to the characters and to any sort of emotion.  I liked the strong men who had strong women helping them though.  That felt good.  (mild romance)

In Plain Sight:  5 stars

This story was such a good balance of all things emotional and suspenseful.  I loved the dual perspective from both Cody and Jaclyn.  Jaclyn's family was brought into the story and it really made things feel homey and gave that touch of realistic as they all shared a cramped apartment for a bit.  The food, the sleeping, the bathroom.  There was plenty of action and tension to keep me reading, anxious and invested all the way through.  My favorite of the three novellas in this book.  (This novella held the most romance.)

This book is encompasses all things I love about romantic suspense.  I love this genre and I love this author writing it!  I hope she never stops.

Elise and Harry have a history so when their paths cross again, there are some layered emotions and misunderstandings.  Elise is one tough lady with a lot on her heart.  After a recent accident where she lost her M16 partner, Elise receives some devastating news.  She is struggling when Harry reenters her life but that little rascal Sammy sure provides some over the top distractions with his penchant for getting in trouble.

The bad guy is SO bad.  The danger is clear in it's progression and as a reader I felt it ramping up and closing in.  It was such an exciting feeling and I loved it!  Elise is the rock star of the show taking on the Scottish wilderness AND Sammy in one dramatic cat and mouse game.  I was glued to the pages the last third of the book and so glad I had uninterrupted reading time so I could engage and invest in the best way possible.  What a fun adventure this was!  I can't wait for more!

Wow, I have so much running through my head right now and so much I want to say.  Most importantly, I loved this book.  The whole concept with the four authors and a dual timeline where we start in the past and then spend the rest of the book in the present day was genius.  It was like the best of both my favorite worlds- historical fiction and contemporary.  There was mystery and adventure, danger and treasure!!.  And yes, there was love.  It all combined to give me a story that had me invested and interested from beginning to end.  The ending had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.  I loved it so much!

Honestly, the historical loving part of me wanted more of the past.  I wanted to follow each of the Lang siblings all the way to the end.  I wanted "the rest of the story"!  (anyone old enough to get that reference there?)  We get some details filled in throughout the story but it just wasn't enough for me.  Greedy, right?  Yeah, I know.

 I'm so hopeful that these authors will do more of this.  Please let there be more of this.  Will anyone write the Lang siblings stories?  Please?  I know.  I'm greedy and I'm a beggar.  That's what book love does to you.  It makes you a greedy beggar.  😂

Paige Edwards is an author whose books I have come to anticipate and enjoy because romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres.  Oh, and props to the cover art.  It's another beautiful one by this publisher.

Paisley has quite a few big changes come her way all at once.  I thought she was a likeable character with a kind heart and a good head on her shoulders.  Her relationship with James was more friendship based as they have known each other most of their lives but it made for a strong, dependable foundation.  The relationship progressed but the plot was responsible for the forward momentum of the story.  I liked how little nuggets were given along the way to draw suspicion to different characters but I always had my eye on the true culprit which I'm sure was meant to be.  The nuggets and intense moments all came together for one final explosive ending.  It was a fun ride.  I think one of things that I really loved was the ending.  After the big finale, the author brought things back down and wrapped the characters and plot up with a nice bow.  It left me with a warm fuzzy feeling.  I love happy endings after rough roads.

I also loved traveling in Scotland for this book.  It's a place I'd love to visit one day and this book made me want to bump it up on my travel list but you will not find me eating Haggis.  😂

There was a lot to like about this book.  The story grows steadily (although sometimes a bit slowly) and I could feel the tension and danger mounting.  I happen to like the fact that I knew the "bad guy" from early on.  It made each moment paths crossed even more nail biting. The last third of the book was my favorite as the story reached it's climax and all things came crashing together.

I really liked Gillian with her struggles and past.  I loved her determination and her spunk.  She was an easy character to root for.

Jack?  I could take him or leave him, either way.  He lacked in the personality department a bit.  His integrity is probably his most redeeming quality and that is definitely something I value in someone.  I didn't really feel that spark of chemistry thrumming between the characters because, well, Jack.  He's not really a butterflies in the tummy kind of guy, I guess.  But, Thierry made up for lots of things in the personality department.  She was a great addition to this story.

I don't think I liked this book as much as the previous book (Catherine's Intrigue) by this author but it was still good.  I enjoyed seeing Catherine and Nick and their bit of happily ever after thrown into this book.  I don't think you need to read the previous book to enjoy or understand this book but it will probably help you enjoy the characters more if you do.

First I have to say that this book is LDS fiction with lots of the story revolving around the LDS religion (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) .  Praying, reading scripture and other things specific to the LDS religion are a prominent part of this story.

I love a good mystery/suspense story!  Usually in a mystery/suspense book I am as clueless as the characters, waiting until the very end for the big reveal.  But not this book. From the very beginning I had a clear idea of the "bad guy" and  every single move they made.  It made me feel both knowledgeable and crazy.  I was always cringing and thinking:  Don't talk on that phone!  Don't go there!  Don't do that!  Look over there!  Watch out!  And those characters never, ever listened to me!  😖

The story had a good build in intensity and the story moved along with decent pacing.  The religious aspects slowed the pacing down a bit but still, the build was there and I felt it.  I liked the story, the concept and characters.
