My Dearest Love by Sarah M. Eden

From the USA Today Bestselling author of the Longing for Home series, MY DEAREST LOVE is a new romance novella set in the beloved world of Hope Springs.

Ian O’Connor spends his days in the purgatory of a New York textile factory, enduring the dangerous conditions to keep his family afloat. Somewhere in the vast, dark corridors of his daily prison is an angel. He has seen her only once but is determined to find her again.

Biddy Dillon has lost her home and her family. Loneliness chips away at her fragile hopes until she meets Ian, whose soft-spoken kindness touches her heart. For the first time in years, she begins to believe in the possibility of good things to come.

When tragedy conspires to pull the couple apart, they must decide if theirs is a future meant to be built together, or if fate has other plans.

 * Goodreads * Amazon *

I love everything Sarah Eden and I love everything Hope Springs.  This novella had me craving Hope Springs and the O'Connor family again.  I'm so excited that there is a full length novel (Love Remains) coming out soon!  Yay!!

This series is about a family of Irish immigrants who come to America in hopes of escaping starvation and depression and finding the American dream.  It is full of texture and emotion.  There is heartache but hope.  It's a grand journey and I would recommend this series to anyone.

Ian is so sweet and gentle.  I loved his instant attraction to Biddy and how he views her as an angel- his angel.  Ian is exactly who Biddy needs to love her and his family is exactly what she needs as well.  This novella was short and sweet- over before I was ready, but it is a great prequel to introduce a fantastic series with an amazing cast of characters.  I love this series!

Content:  clean, a couple sweet kisses

Adult Contemporary Romance

He's ready to settle down…with or without her

Scott Abbott has always loved Isabelle Hawks. And he's always been her rock. Patient, dependable, strong. But lately, she's been acting like that rock is weighing her down. With her art career taking off, Isabelle has been spending less and less time in Indian Lake…and with him. Scott isn't even sure what they are to each other anymore. They might be friends with a history, but it sure doesn't feel like a future. Maybe it's time for Scott to set her free and focus on his own dreams. A real home. A family. All the things he had hoped to share with her…

This is the eighth book in the Shores of Indian Lake series.  That's a lot of books!  While the books have characters from previous books, each book can stand alone.  You don't have to read them in order.  I've read a few of the books in this series, but not all of them.

I think Scott has to be the sweetest man ever.  With the patience of a saint, he really is the ideal and perfect man.  Perhaps when it comes to Isabelle, he is a bit of a whipped puppy so I really enjoyed the moments when he stood up for himself and did what he wanted to do instead of following her around, ready to deliver whatever she wanted at a moments notice.  Scott stole my heart when he decided to help and love those two little children.  Honestly!?  Who wouldn't be smitten with a man like that?  I'll tell you who.  Isabelle.  Yeah, I'm not an Isabelle fan.  I didn't like her.  At all.  Even in the end.  But, Scott and the kids?  LOVE.

With characters from previous books appearing, these books always provide a sense of community and feelings of coming home.  I love that.  Indian Shores is a place I would want to live.

Dating the It Guy $50 Book Blast

Emme is a sophomore in high school who starts dating, Brendon Agretti, the popular senior who happens to be a senator's son and well-known for his good looks. Emme feels out of her comfort zone in Brendon's world and it doesn't help that his picture perfect ex, Lauren seems determined to get back into his life along with every other girl who wants to be the future Mrs. Agretti. Emme is already conflicted due to the fact her last boyfriend cheated on her and her whole world is off kilter with her family issues. Life suddenly seems easier keeping Brendon away and relying on her crystals and horoscopes to guide her. Emme soon starts to realize she needs to focus less on the stars and more on her senses. Can Emme get over her insecurities and make her relationship work? Life sure is complicated when you're dating the it guy.

Excerpt: The next day, I went to the newspaper office to drop off my story. I hoped I wouldn’t run into Lauren, Brendon’s perfect ex, but she was there with her feet up on her desk, talking on the phone. She put up her finger to signal me to wait. There was no place to sit so I stared at the posters on the wall. Lauren was wearing a blue zip-up sweatshirt and sweatpants. Her shiny hair was pulled back in a ponytail (a bouncy one of course), which showed off her diamond earrings. She had some pearly lavender lipstick on, the kind that makes most people look like a corpse, but on her it showed off her flawless complexion and rosy cheeks. Plus, she didn’t need any other makeup with those gray eyes. I had spent forty-five minutes on my hair and makeup and wore a pair of designer jeans I got on sale and a cute fitted sweater I borrowed from Margaux, yet Lauren was hotter in her sweats and ponytail with hardly any makeup on. “Sorry, talking to the assistant editor at the Post,” she said. Stupid namedropper—wait the Post? Where I had gotten the internship—the same one taken away from me? “I’m interning there,” she said. “That’s nice.” Get me out of here. She got my position? “This is my second time there. I started in the summer, but they wanted me to stay on for the fall. So what can I do for you?” she asked as I tried to keep myself from howling over the unfairness of the universe. “Here’s the Halloween party story. I e-mailed it to the submission address, but Brendon said you also needed a hard copy.” “Oh, I thought Brendon was going to write this,” she said. “He asked me to…is it okay?” “I guess.” She dropped it in a box and began typing furiously on her laptop. “You’re welcome.” I hated her. I can’t believe she got my internship at the Post and moved in on my ex-boyfriend. I could just imagine her and Brendon’s life together—it would be like a glossy, preppy perfume ad. Their house would be in a magazine where they’d praise her for her good taste. Then their two perfect children Brendon Jr. and Lily (or whatever rich people name their daughters) would be dressed in perfect little outfits that matched the furniture. Meanwhile, I’d still be trying to work at the Post and wearing designer clothes from the final markdown sale rack at some bargain-basement store.

The Ghost of You and Me by Kelly Oram + $25 Giveaway and an Excerpt!

How do you tell someone who hates you and blames you for the death of his best friend that you miss him?
From the bestselling teen and young adult author of Cinder & Ella comes a new heart-wrenching romance sure to bring all the feels.

The tragic death of Spencer Schott unravels the lives of the two people he loved most—his girlfriend, Bailey, and his best friend, Wes. Secrets and guilt from that fateful night keep both Bailey and Wes from overcoming Spencer’s loss and moving on with their lives.

Now, nearly a year later, both Bailey and Wes are still so broken over what happened that Spencer can’t find peace in the afterlife. In order to put his soul to rest, he’s given one chance to come back and set things right...even if that means setting up his girlfriend with his best friend.

With the emotional resonance of Jellicoe Road and the magical realism of The Lovely Bones, The Ghost of You and Me is a story about overcoming grief, finding redemption for past mistakes, and the healing power of friendship and love. Fans of John Green, Sarah Dessen, and Nicholas Sparks are sure to love this haunting new tale from Kelly Oram.

This is a clean young adult romance stand alone novel that reads like contemporary drama romance and has just a touch of magical realism.

To begin with, I have to say that while I think Kelly Oram is an amazingly gifted writer, after her last book I had about given up on reading her books.  I'm a girl that prefers her books clean- free from swearing and sexual content and Kelly really pushes that boundary for me.  (yes, I realize that this is a personal preference and one not shared by everyone)  Then I saw the blurb for this book and it says "clean" and I debated because I really wanted to read this book and I really wanted to love it but I was unsure based on all my previous experiences with her books.  I decided to give it one more shot because, hello?  It's Kelly Oram and did I mention that I think she is an amazing writer?  She has a gift for making characters seem so real and vibrant in stories that completely suck you in.

This story is a bit unlike any of Kelly's others.  I loved the grittier, messier, more complicated feelings and emotions from both Bailey and Wes.  Feelings of loss, guilt, anger and misunderstanding were swirling around with love, trust, forgiveness and overcoming.  As the story unfolds, bit by bit, I was completely taken with Bailey, Wes and yes, even Spencer the ghost.  I thought there was an excellent balance between the heavier issues and the lighter side of friendship, high school and young love.  This book definitely kept me engaged- my interest, and my feelings.  I love when that happens in a book!

I'm so glad I read this book!  It was one of the better ones I've read this month which is saying something because June has been an awesome review month.  :)

Enjoy the following excerpt:

“What is he doing here?” Liz whispers from somewhere behind me. The sound is distant, barely registering in my mind.
“What do you mean? Who is he?” Charlotte asks again.
Wes Delaney is here. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. It’s been almost a year. He dropped out of school a couple of weeks after Spencer’s accident and disappeared from Columbia High’s social radar. My heart pounds at the sight of him.
Wes pays the lunch lady for his food, and when he turns around, his eyes immediately land on me as if he already knew which direction to look. My mouth goes dry when our eyes meet. I didn’t know how much I’ve missed him until this exact moment. My entire body yearns to reconnect with him. And yet…I have no business feeling that way. I squash those feelings and let my old friend, guilt, swamp me. Guilt is all I deserve where Wes is concerned. Still, I can’t look away from him.
He seems different—older and hardened. His head is shaved nearly bald. Only a dark layer of fuzz remains that is no longer than the five o’clock shadow ghosting his face. It’s a surprisingly good look for him. While Spencer eventually outgrew his awkward tween stage (mostly), Wes never experienced one. He was always hot. Now, he’s just plain sexy.
With his hair so short, his dark eyes and long lashes stand out more than normal. And he’s so built that even from my seat across the cafeteria I can tell his body is rock hard beneath his tight plain white T-shirt and low-hung jeans. He looks tough. Jaded.
“What’s he doing here, Bailey?”
I ignore Trisha’s question. I couldn’t speak right now, even if I knew the answer—which I most definitely do not. I can’t breathe. Can’t think. I’m locked in his stare, and I can’t decipher the look on his face.
Where has he been for the last year? What is he doing here now? What is he thinking? Why can’t he take his eyes off me? Is he going to tell everyone what really happened that night?
Feeling sick, I jump up from my seat and run from the cafeteria as if my life depends on it. Right now, it feels like it does.
When I was put on medication after Spencer’s death, numbness replaced the devastating pain and heartache I suffered. I haven’t felt anything for months. But as I burst into the first-floor girls’ bathroom, it feels as if all the emotions I should have been experiencing all this time hit me at once. It’s crippling.
I look in the mirror, hoping for a clue as to what I’m feeling right now. I only see panic. I’m going to lose it. Leaning back against one of the cold tile walls, I slide to the ground. My knees come up to my chest, and I bury my face in them, wrapping my arms tightly around my legs while I force air in and out of my lungs.
“Breathe,” I whisper to myself. “Breathe, Bailey. It’s okay.”

Author Kelly Oram Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen--a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which her family and friends still tease her. Over the Moon (Gold Valley Romance Book 5) by Liz Isaacson

Can Caleb and Holly navigate their rocky past to find their happily-ever-after?

Caleb Chamberlain has spent the last five years recovering from a horrible breakup, his alcoholism that stemmed from it, and the car accident that left him hospitalized. He’s finally on the right track in his life, and he’s found peace with being a cowboy at Horseshoe Home Ranch for the rest of his life.

Until Holly Gray, his twin brother’s ex-fiance mistakes him for Nathan. Caleb wasn’t around much when Nathan and Holly were an item, and it takes him a few minutes to figure out who she is, but definitely not that long to want to get to know her better. Holly’s back in Gold Valley to get the required veterinarian hours to apply for her graduate program.

When the herd at Horseshoe Home comes down with pneumonia, Caleb and Holly are forced to work together in close quarters. After checking with his brother, Caleb decides he wants to start something with Holly, despite her plans to leave town in eight months.

Holly’s over Nathan, but she hasn't forgiven him—or the woman she believes broke up their relationship. As she and Caleb get to know one another better, she’ll have to figure out if she's really in love with Caleb—or the memory of Nathan—and how to forgive everyone she hasn’t. Can Caleb and Holly navigate such a rough past to find their happily-ever-after?

Happy release day to this new book by Liz Isaacson!  This book is part of the Gold Valley Romance Series but it can stand alone.  If you love a good ranch setting with cowboys, this may be the book for you.  :)  Liz Isaacson does cowboys well!

Caleb was an impressive guy.  He has fought his way back to sobriety and a steady, hard working life.  Once Caleb decides he's in, he's in.  I loved that.  It's like this is his second chance at life and he knows what he wants.

Holly wasn't my favorite character but she had some redeeming qualities.  She was braver than I think I would be in the face of a church and town filled with people who are against her.

There were some good moments between Caleb an Holly and while this isn't my favorite book by Liz Isaacson, it was enjoyable.  It was easy to settle into and gave me that shot of Happily Ever After that I'm always looking for.  Like an addict.  Ha.

Falling for June (Falling series #3) by Heather B. Moore

Once a year, June Dawson goes on vacation with her best friends from high school. When she arrives in Maui, she realizes she's the odd-woman out. With Sydney engaged, and Maria nearly so, June wonders if anyone will ever fall for her. Then June meets Lance, their gorgeous next door bungalow neighbor at the Maui resort, and she's definitely charmed. But after her recent breakup, June refuses to fall for gorgeous, or charming, again.

This is the third story in this three novella series.  You do not have to read them in order but you will probably enjoy the characters more if you do.

I loved the Hawaiian setting.  I wish I were there right now.  It sets up the perfect scenario for romance.  June doesn't have a very high self esteem thanks to a loser ex boyfriend, and she always feels less than what she perceives her friends to be.  She is so surprised when she finds Lance directing his smiles and gaze toward her.

This is such a quick story- over before you know it but it was very romantic and sweet.  I wish it could have been longer because it seriously took me about a half hour to read.   I enjoyed it though and I think it's a great addition to this series.  I've loved all three of these books.  If you are looking for a quick, bite sized, romantic getaway, check out this series!

Now Lucia’s running from bounty hunters, partnering with a man with the morals of a snake, and forcing Sebastian to court Adeline in a desperate attempt to keep the innocent seamstress safe.

Captain Greybrow is the only one with a solid plan, one that will take Lucia into the heart of forbidden, siren-inhabited waters. But after Avery’s betrayal, can Lucia find a way to trust him again? It won’t be easy, especially when it appears the captain has yet another hidden agenda.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

Oh!  Oh-ey, oh oh.  Eeeeeeep!  Ooo-eee.

Yup.  I've been reduced to noises.  Those are lovey noises though, if you couldn't tell.  I LOVED this book.  I was so caught up in it- fully invested and watching the scenes unfold like a fantastic adventure movie in my head.  It's no secret that I love Shari Tapscott's writing.  It really settles in with me and as a reader, that feels fantastic.  Shari is an auto buy for me any and every time.

I first fell in love with Shari's Eldentimber Series.  That series is one of my favorites.  It's the perfect series for YA and adults alike.  It's clean and just so adventurous and fun.  If you haven't read any of these books, you really, really should.

And this new series?  Oh my.  I'm in.  One hundred percent in.  The first book (and prequel) were so good but this book?  More emotions come into play- more intense emotions.  Avery Greybrow was a key player in book one but took a somewhat secondary role to Lucia and Sebastian.  In this book, Avery becomes more of the focus while Sebastian takes a more behind the scenes role.  It's amazing to me how the author shifted my emotions and devotions in this book.  Crazy.  I was thinking about this book long after I finished it and I was sure wishing I didn't have to wait for the next book.  UGH!!  It definitely left me hanging, dangling, right over that cliff.  (which I don't like, really)  BUT.  I'll be desperate to get that next book in my hands!

This book is quite the adventure.  Adventure on the high seas.  It has fantastic pacing and like I said before, played out just like a movie in my head.

Sigh.  I want to go read it again.  Right now.

This series is on Kindle Unlimited if you have that!!  YAY!

Content:  some mild violence, peril.  Some kissing, mild innuendo.  Clean.

- I received a complimentary copy of this book but have also purchased my own copy.

The Capture (Griffin Force #3) by Julie Coulter Bellon

Julian Bennet, head of Griffin Force, finally finds love with Zaya Altes, but the day he buys her an engagement ring, international terrorist Nazer al-Raimi abducts her. Getting her back consumes him, yet it takes nearly six months to find her. The daring mission to extract her from a hidden prison in Afghanistan is successful, but Zaya has suffered during captivity. Though she’s grateful to Julian for breaking her out, she wants nothing to do with him. Before he can show her how much he still loves her, Nazer finds them and vows revenge. Can Julian keep Zaya safe and still stop Nazer once and for all?

Zaya Altes nearly gave up hope of ever being rescued, but when Griffin Force finally finds her, returning to life is harder than she imagined. While her feelings for Julian are as strong as ever, she feels too broken to recapture what they once had. Instead, Zaya jumps at a chance to trap Nazer, wanting vengeance for what she’s endured. As the final showdown draws near, however, Zaya will have to make an unimaginable choice to let Nazer close to her again. But when a shocking web of betrayal is uncovered in their own ranks, their one chance to capture him is compromised. Julian and Zaya will put everything on the line, but can they survive this ultimate test and finally reach for their chance at happiness?

Julie Bellon is one of my favorite authors in the romantic suspense genre.  Well, she's one of my favorites period.  :)  I really love her military suspense books- they are full of action, danger and excellent characters that I just can't help but love.  This book is part of a series, but it can stand alone.  I would recommend reading the whole series though, it's worth it!

This book starts off with Zaya being held hostage by a terrorist organization.  She is tortured, starved and near death.  I know this is a fictional book but I also know that these things happen today and I am in awe of people who are brave enough to face these things or even the chance of these things when they go to work each day.  I would never survive it, but how grateful I am that there are people better than me.  Freedom is an amazing gift given by people that this book represents.

Anyway, back to the book.  Ha.  SO GOOD!  Zaya, brave and strong.  She holds on in horrific circumstances for so long, waiting to be rescued.  Julian is desperate to find Zaya, not only his teammate, but his love.  Julian is all things strong and good.  He fights for Zaya and tries so hard to provide her with everything he thinks she will need for her recovery.  I loved the dynamics of their relationship.  Watching Zaya come to terms with some of the things that happened and realize her limitations and her strengths were endearing.  I just loved her.

This book is full of action and suspense, but it's also full of moments where I have time to breathe and connect with the characters.  I wasn't tense the whole book.  The ending was explosive and so satisfying.

If you haven't read anything by Julie Bellon, you really need to.  She is a fantastic author and I'm always on the lookout for her next book.

Content:  some violence, torture (but nothing too graphic), kissing

- I received a complimentary copy of this book.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Sweet Rendezvous by Danielle Stewart On her last tank of gas Elaine Mathews drives South. Spontaneity had never been her strength, but there was something about being publicly fired that had a way of changing things. An empty bank account, broken heart, and enough humiliation to last a life time was all Elaine could claim as her own. Her car choked to a stop in the quiet beach town of Indigo Bay and all she could do was sit on the curb and wait for the sun to set on her misery. Davis Mills has a routine. Wake. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. It hadn’t always been that way. He’d left indigo bay once and returned a broken man. Now he kept his dreams small and his schedule tight. If there was no room in his life for anything new then he’d never repeat his mistakes. When fate has them, quite literally colliding Elaine and Davis are faced with an important question. Can you live a full life if you never take a risk? Or is life made up of every mistake, miracle and chance that comes with being in love?

The Ghost of You and Me $50 Book Blast

The Ghost of You and Me by Kelly Oram How do you tell someone who hates you and blames you for the death of his best friend that you miss him?

Mormon Girl: Incognito by Kari Iroz + $25 and Book Giveaway!

Hilarious heroine Jacklyn Wyatt is back—this time in a dicey Vegas adventure! Jacklyn “Jack” Wyatt is just your average Mormon girl—other than her brief stint with the FBI, her subsequent brush with death, and her dreamy boyfriend, Special Agent Damon Wade. But in the eight months since she helped save a kidnapping victim, Jack’s life has returned to its mostly stagnant state. She’s still trapped in a dead-end job, and even her relationship seems to be stuck in a rut. These days, adventures are few and far between. So when Damon heads to Las Vegas on assignment, Jack sees the perfect opportunity to surprise her boyfriend and rekindle the spark in their relationship. But the surprise is on her: she has just landed herself in the middle of a high-stakes operation involving Russian criminals. Unwittingly drawn undercover once more, Jack is all too aware that the survival of Damon and his associates depends on the success of her charade. In the unfamiliar world of luxurious limos, exclusive nightclubs, and gambling, Jack must convince the high-rolling hustlers that she is a terrifying international arms dealer. If only she knew anything about poker. Or guns . . .

Ooh, I really loved this book!  It was so engaging and had the perfect balance of suspense, action and romance.  There is a book before this one ( A Date with Danger) and I didn't read it but that didn't seem to hinder how much I enjoyed this book.  There were plenty of references to what happened in the first book so I think I have the general idea of what happened.  I didn't really feel lost at all but now I may just have to go back and read it so I know the whole story!

Jack and Damon are fun characters.  I smiled at their interactions and how they grew in intensity throughout the book.  The ending was explosive and crazy!  So good!

I'm so glad I am on the tour for this book (and sorry I missed the last one!)  This is an author now on my radar and I can't wait to see what comes next!

This is an LDS fiction book so thing specific to that religion are in this book.  The characters are LDS and talk of religion but nothing overly preachy.

Content:  mild violence, kissing, setting in Vegas (drugs, alcohol, gun dealers, hit men)
