I'm happy to be a part of the tour for this Alchemists series by Kailin Gow.  This series is written more for the younger crowd, maybe middle grades and up.  Something I can really appreciate about this series so far is that it is clean.  There isn't the swearing and sexual content that is found in many of the YA books out there.

This series takes on a sort of scaled down Harry Potter feel as the main characters are at a school for magic and finding themselves in all sorts of adventures and trouble.  They have teachers who may or may not be the good guys and they get to meet all sorts of interesting creatures like unicorns and dragons.  There is mystery and intrigue and a dashing young hero who you cannot help but root for.  As the students learn more about their magic abilities and go on quests, things get more and more interesting.

I enjoyed the second book more than the first and now I'm looking forward to the next book, The Quantum Games.  Things are going to get really exciting.  I read through these books pretty fast and all the while kept thinking that these might be perfect for the middle grade boy who is into magic and adventure.
