Betting On Hope by Debra Clopton

A bet gone wrong. A small town s meddling. And a cowboy intent on saving his ranch.

Maggie Hope is an advice columnist whose background leaves her with little advice to give . . . and it s beginning to show. When Maggie fills in at an interview with champion horse trainer Tru Monahan, the on-camera chemistry between them is undeniable. Maggie s bosses know this is the opportunity she's been looking for to launch her career and their bank accounts. In order to save her column, Maggie takes Tru up on the betthat he can teach her to ride a quick-stepping cutting horse like any cowgirl, despite the fact that she has never been on a horse. And in the meantime, she can get the scoop on the man under the cowboy hat.

Tru has been on the competition circuit for longer than he d like, but he knows it's the only way he can afford to keep the Four of Hearts Ranch that means so much to his ailing grandfather. So when his sponsors see the opportunity for Tru s fans to get to know the star on a more intimate level, he knows he must oblige. To his dismay, Maggie not only invades his small town of Wishing Springs, but she also invades his heart, and that is something he cannot let any woman do for her own good.

In Wishing Springs, Maggie finds what she has always been looking for: a community and a home. But when her past catches up to her, it threatens everything, even the tender hope that this town holds all of her heart s desires.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

What is it with swoony cowboys?  I don't know but I sure like it.  Tru is swoony.  A little dense sometimes, but swoony for sure.  And loyal.  And hardworking.

Maggie will capture your heart.  I loved her from the beginning and I loved her even more by the end.  Life and it's challenges has made Maggie empathetic and compassionate.  She is strong but not in an overbearing and forceful way.  I like that about her.

One of the things that I loved about this book was the developing stories within the story.  The romance was slow moving but provided that pull and tension between characters.  Both Maggie and Tru have stories that unfold as they go along.  The author did an excellent job of allowing me to get to know characters in a gentle and real way.  It all felt good.

This book hit the spot for me.  I was in the mood for a clean romance, a handsome cowboy and an overall satisfying story that went a little deeper than the usual fluff.  (don't get me wrong though.  I LOVE fluff!!)  This is a Christian Fiction book, I would say light on the Christian.  I'm really looking forward to reading about the brothers in future books.

My thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishing for allowing me to read and review this title for them.

EMBARK! by John Bytheway (An LDS Inspirational Talk on CD)

In this motivating talk related to the LDS 2015 youth theme, John Bytheway explains what it means to truly embark—to get fully on board in the service of God with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Using scriptures, powerful stories, and his characteristic humor, John explains that with the Savior’s help, we can remain on board and eventually stand blameless before God at the last day.

This is an LDS, religious based, inspirational talk geared toward teenagers.  I don't usually review things like this on my blog, but for this I made an exception.  Here's why:

First, I love listening to John Bytheway.  He is a gifted speaker and he brings energy and joy to his talks.  I always leave inspired to do better and be better.  John also knows how to bring humor at the right points and keep an audience engaged.

Second, I heard John Bytheway deliver this talk in a church gathering for youth just this last week.  I knew he was coming when I signed on for this blog tour and I knew I would want to share it.  His live talk varied a little from this recording but overall, it was the same.  Well, other than watching him live allowed me to see his visuals and watch his face as he spoke.  It was awesome.

I love popping these kinds of CD's in the car on longer car rides and trips or vacations.  I have a captive audience in the car.  haha.  Actually, my kids really love listening to these too.  It's become a tradition when we take a road trip.

I hope every LDS youth will be able to listen to this talk.  It will bring new light to the youth theme for the year.  It's fantastic.

John Bytheway served a mission to the Philippines and later graduated from Brigham Young University. A favorite speaker and teacher, John holds a master’s degree in religious education and is a part-time instructor at BYU. John is the author of many bestselling books, audio talks, and DVDs, including How Do I Know if I Know?; Of Pigs, Pearls, and Prodigals; When Times are Tough: 5 Scriptures That Will Help You Get through Almost Anything; and the 2014 youth theme talk on CD, Come Unto Christ. He and his wife, Kimberly, have six children

Devon's Choice $50 Book Blast

devon's choice
Life holds no surprises for Devon Murphy. Her life consists of keeping tabs on her aging Irish father, working part time at a coffee shop, and building her online graphics design business. Devon’s only tricky situation is a shallow relationship with the pampered and affluent Michael Turner, who sees her as just another woman to conquer. Following his father’s death, Brandon’s only goal is to expand the family business and live life on his own terms. That is, until he walks into the coffee shop one snowy evening and meets the enchanting, red-haired barista behind the counter. But can Devon and Brandon’s attraction for each other be strong enough to help erase their deepest disappointments and renew their faith in God?

  Excerpt:
Brandon looked over at her neutral expression. Whatever kind of relationship she had with Michael Turner didn’t seem to be making her happy. At that moment, all he wanted to do was to make her forget all about the jerk. As if sensing him watching her, Devon turned her head enough to make eye contact with him. The faint, milky glow from the streetlight showed enough of her features for him to see a soft blush warm her cheeks. Under her dark lashes, he watched her sea green eyes glint invitingly as her soft lips turned up at the corners. In that moment, his resolve to keep the date on a friendly level came crashing down.

A Timeless Romance Anthology: All Regency Collection

In THE WEDDING GIFT: A PRIDE AND PREJUDICE STORY, an enchanting novella by Anna Elliott, the story opens two weeks before Elizabeth Bennet’s wedding to Mr. Darcy. He has given her the perfect wedding gift, and now she must come up with one for him. But what do you give a man who has everything? Elizabeth soon discovers that the gift of love is more important than any one thing.

DREAM OF A GLORIOUS SEASON, a sweet novella by Sarah M. Eden, we meet Elizabeth Gillerford who envies her sister only one thing—that she’s been intended for Julian Broadwood since they were children. The trouble is that Elizabeth is hopelessly in love with Julian too. When Julian discovers that Elizabeth has been denied a Season because her older sister is yet unwed, he undertakes his own stealthy measures to introduce her to society, only to find himself falling in love with her himself.

In THE MENDER, a captivating story by Carla Kelly, Thankful Winnings takes a sea voyage with her cousin on the Ann Alexander, in a last adventure before she settles down to marry one of her beaus. Unexpectedly they come upon the aftermath of a fierce ship battle, and Thankful is commissioned to help in the place of an injured surgeon on one of the Royal Navy ships. Adam Farnsworth, surgeon, has been at sea for years. Tired of war, but devoted to his post, it takes a resourceful lady such as Thankful to give him the hope of love and help heal his own wounds, the ones that show and the ones that don’t.

In BEGIN AGAIN, a charming novella by Josi S. Kilpack, Regina Weathers gives up on marrying for love the day that Ross Martin walks out of her life. Now, fifteen years later, Ross shows up at a ball and thinks he can woo Regina. But she is set on her lonely path and stitched-up heart, no matter the excuse Ross gives for his years of silence and neglect. When Ross insists he wrote many letters during his military years, Regina discovers a secret long-since buried by her father, and the revelation might be enough to thaw the coldness of her heart.

In Annette Lyon’s endearing story, THE AFFAIR AT WILDEMOORE, Mrs. Ellen Stanhope escorts her three daughters to a ball. As her oldest flirts with a beau, Ellen is reminded of her courtship and early years of marriage with Anthony, before tragedy struck with the death of their infant son. The marriage has faded and dulled. Not until she sees Anthony dancing with a woman he courted years before does Ellen realize how much she misses him, still loves him, and yearns for him to yet feel the same way for her.

In the delightful novella, THE DUKE’S BROTHER, by Heather B. Moore, Mr. Gregory Clark is having an awful day, and it only gets worse when he’s ran over by … a woman. Mabel Russell reluctantly visits her sister in London for the Season, even though she’d rather stay in the country cataloging insects and aphids. When she runs into Gregory Clark, quite literally, she’s afraid to show any interest, especially since he’s a member of the dreaded ton. But getting to know Gregory becomes an unexpected delight.

I think these Timeless Romance Anthologies are the best thing ever.  I love to see a new one pop up every few months.  I know exactly what I'm going to get- romance novellas, clean and full of happily ever after's.  Most of these novellas come from authors that I know and love and once in awhile I get to meet an author new to me.

Each book that comes out has a different "theme" to them.  Regency is one of my favorite genres for romance novels so I was excited to read this one.  I really enjoyed every single book in this collection.  They were all so good.  Each had it's own flavor and style.  Young love, older love, second chance at love- this collection has it all.  I loved it.

Ooh, and the next collection out is called California Dreamin' which makes this California girl VERY happy!

It's a Rough Edges Release Day Party! Review, Excerpt AND a Three Book Giveaway!!

Happy Birthday to you.  Happy Birthday to you.  Happy Birthday dear Rough Edges.  Happy Birthday to you!

It's a good day when I get to read a new book by Kimberly Krey.  Yeah, she's one of my favorites.  I'm not even going to try to contain my happy dancing.  When I'm in the mood for some good romance, Kimberly is my go-to gal.  And, honestly, I'm always in the mood for a good romance.  ;)  I'm so excited!

Rough Edges kicks off the beginning of a new series by Kimberly.  I like the second chances theme in this book.  I liked the older characters, the added situations of older kids and divorce in the mix and how Allie had to navigate those issues.   It was good stuff.

Allie and Braden share some intense chemistry.  There are some steamy make out sessions (but nothing beyond that).  Let's just say that I never knew kissing in a wood shop could be so, um, steamy.  Sizzle, Crackle.   Kim's motto is "keeping it clean without losing the steam".  She really sticks to that motto.  This book does contain kissing and it is steamy but it never goes farther than that.  There is also a few instances of mild swearing.

I'm so happy to be posting along with Kimberly today.  Did I mention she is one of my favorite people?  Here's what she has to say about all this:

Allie Emerson gets her happy ending at last in my new release, Rough Edges, available now on Amazon.

Rough Edges starts off my newest series, Second Chances – a companion to the Sweet Montana Bride series. Featuring some of the characters you know and love, this series will give Allie, Logan, and a new character, Bree, (you'll meet her in Allie's story) a second chance at romance. If you haven't read the Sweet Montana Bride series, no worries. This series, as well as each book within, will stand alone just fine. Now for a bit about the book.

Divorced mother, Allie Emerson, never imagined she’d be raising two teenage girls on her own. Between parenting and paying the bills, she hasn’t even thought about meeting a man. That changes once she hears local carpenter, Braden Fox, is in need of a secretary. Back in high school, Allie had done all she could to deny the sparks burning between her and Braden; but would the chemistry still be there after all this time?

Braden has heard all about what Terrance did to Allie and the girls. He’s been planning to stop by and see how she’s getting along, but Allie beats him to it by showing up at his shop in search of a job. Her unexpected visit reignites the old flame Braden used to torch for her; trouble is, old feelings of resentment return as well. Allie did choose Terrance over him, after all. And as much as Braden wants Allie in his life, he’s not sure he can open his heart to her again.

With a second chance at romance, will the bumps in their relationship be too much to get over, or will this carpenter learn to smooth out the past?

Now for an excerpt from the book:

Their eyes met once more, and a shot of heat flooded his chest like a liquid bolt of lightening, forcing his pulse to rush. “I’ve missed you,” he blurted.
Her eyes widened in response, and Braden wondered if he’d been too bold. He’d hardly meant to speak it. It’d been more of a thought. A longing, really.
At last she nodded. “Yeah,” she said, her voice soft and low. “I … I’ve been wondering about you too. How you’ve been over the years. I kept asking Terrance who you were dating. If you were close to marrying anyone…” Her words drifted off for a breath, but then she spoke up again. “You admitted that you’d turned down our offers to come to dinner and catch up.” She studied him for a moment, a challenge presented in her gaze. “All those years. Why didn’t you just come?”
“You know why.” He’d nearly spoken over her, but he couldn’t help it.
“No, Braden, I don’t.”
He nodded adamantly, taking a step back and folding his arms. “Think about it, Allie.” ...
“I have thought about it –”
“Not nearly enough, apparently,” he snapped.
“I’ve thought about it all these years. It hurt my feelings. I thought we were friends.”
... Braden bit back his words and broke into a pace.
“Braden,” she said, “I wanted you to stay a part of our lives. You were the best influence Terrance had and you just stopped being his friend? Why would you do that?”
Braden froze in place. “I was a better friend to him than you’ll ever know.” Or possibly the worst, he realized. He strode back, his gaze set on her. “And I didn’t want to be your friend, Allie. I wanted more than that and you know it.”
Her face fell flat. Her lips parted. But no words came. She cleared her throat, casting her eyes to the floor. “Yeah,” he said. “Don’t pretend that you don’t know. I made it clear. And as soon as I did you started setting me up with every friend you had. Including Kayla.”
“That’s not…” Her face flushed red. Her lips tightened. “That’s not how it went, Braden.” The silence that followed was painful. The tension wedged in each passing second pressed at Braden’s last nerve.
“Well,” he said, “this has been a nice trip down memory lane, but if you don’t mind I’ve got to get back to work. Come on out when you’re ready.” He turned away from her in one quick jerk and walked out of the kitchen, one long stride after the next.

Secrets.  Loads of secrets.  If I had to pick a theme for this book, that's what it would be.  Secrets.  Shhh.  Everyone is keeping them.  (now that "secrets" song is playing in my head)

Niagara is a beautiful setting for this book.  I love Niagara Falls.  It's a beautiful place and I'm glad I was able to more fully visualize it because I've been there.

With every turn of the page, the plot and tension grows.  The secrets mount and like I said before, it seems like everyone is keeping some.  I loved the growing feeling of tension and suspense.  It was a tangible feeling with this book.  I liked the characters well enough although they weren't what was driving this particular book.  It was the plot.  There was a lot going on.  I was driven toward that ending.  Like a runaway truck.  Ha.  I couldn't put down if I wanted to.  Which I didn't.  I wanted to keep reading and at the end, I actually wanted more.

This book is LDS fiction.  There are some religious mentions although nothing too preachy.  As per usual with LDS fiction books, there is no swearing or sexual situations.  This book is clean.  There is some violence.

Do you love time travel books?  Dr. Who kind of TV shows and movies?  If you do, you will probably really enjoy this book.  For me, time travel books are usually just confusing.  I have a really hard time keeping everything straight in my head.  I gave up watching Dr. Who but my husband and kids love it.  The one time travel movie I love is Somewhere in Time.  ha.  And even that one confused me to some degree.

So, yeah.  I was a bit confused in this book.  There is a lot of jumping around through memories (or are they memories?) or is it the future that hasn't happened (or has it?).  My brain just could not do it.  That's not anyone's problem buy my own because I actually think the concept of this book is great.  I liked the story and the characters.  I thought the pacing was good and the details kept me interested.  I didn't really understand the relationships between characters- that was mostly surface without a lot of detail because most of it happened in the future.  I think.  Uugh!!

Because I was just a wee tad bit confused the whole time, I always felt like I was missing something.  I was curious when the book started and I grew more and more confused in some areas while others things became more clear.  I can't say that by the end everything was all cleared up because I was left on a cliff that I didn't fully understand in the end too.  <sigh>  Maybe time travel is like calculus or trig to my brain.  It just doesn't compute.

Bottom line is that while I was confused by the time travel aspect, I was interested and I liked the story.  This book is clean (no sexual situations or swearing) which is always a plus in my opinion.

Keeping Kate by Lauren Winder Farnsworth

Orphan Kate Evans is determined to make a life for herself on a Utah ranch, taking care of a little girl named Addie. But when she meets her irritable employer, Kate is forced to confront the past she's been running from—and face a future she never dreamed possible. This latter-day twist on the classic Jane Eyre is a romantic and gripping read.

First of all, I'll start out by saying that this is an LDS based book.  It does contain religious elements and some things specific to the LDS religion.

I am a huge Jane Eyre fan.  It's one of my favorite old classics.  It's what drew me to the re-telling of this book.  I didn't fall in love with this book.  I liked it- some parts more than others.  Some moments had me rolling my eyes and questioning the characters and their motivations and actions.  I feel like the development wasn't always there to convince me of what was happening.  There was a lot of drama that really felt like drama.

The cover is pretty, the setting was perfect.  As a reader I just fell in and out of the story because some things I just didn't buy into.  It wasn't believable to me and  I was a bit frustrated throughout.  But, there were moments that I really enjoyed as well.  It's sort of a mixed bag for me on this one.

A Brush With Love: A January Wedding Story by Rachel Hauck

They've helped orchestrate the perfect day for countless couples. Now twelve new couples will find themselves in the wedding spotlight in the second Year of Weddings novella collection.

Ginger Winters is a gifted hairstylist with scars no one can see. The last thing she expects from the New Year is a new chance at love.

Overcoming a childhood tragedy, Ginger emerges from the pain and trauma with a gift for bringing out the beauty in others. From the top big city salons to traveling the world as personal stylist to a country music sensation, success was almost enough to make Ginger forget she would never be one of the beautiful people.  But she needs her confidence this weekend. She’s the acclaimed “beauty-maker” for the Alabama society wedding of the decade.

When high-school crush Tom Wells Jr. also returns to town and shows up at her shop looking for a haircut, Ginger’s thinly veiled insecurities threaten to keep her locked away from love, Despite Tom’s best efforts, Ginger can’t forget how he disappeared on her twelve years ago and broke her heart. Can she ever trust him again?

When Tom challenges her to see her own beauty, Ginger must decide if she will remained chained to the past or move freely into a new, exciting future.

 * Amazon * Goodreads *

I'm really hoping I can catch all the books in this new novella collection by Zondervan.  Last year I started in too late in the year to catch up and read all of them but this year I have hope.

Isn't the cover pretty for this book?  It represents what lies within so well too.  I really love when covers represent the book and aren't just generic.  The added bonus to this first book for me is that Rachel Hauck wrote it.  I haven't read a Rachel Hauck book I haven't liked yet.

You just have to love Ginger.  She is both strong and insecure.  She feels real and human and her struggles and insecurities help me relate to her character.  Ginger sure knows how to hold onto a grudge though.  Especially against poor Tom.  He's trying his best to make wrongs right but Ginger just cannot let things go.  It's those darn insecurities holding her back unnecessarily.  And Fear.  It was good stuff watching both characters work through things.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to more to come from this series.  This books are clean Christian fiction.  I like knowing I'm not going to get any surprises in the way of language or sexual content.  These books are short, novella length.  That means I can breeze through them quickly and I can get my romantic fix just like that.  :)

Love Unexpected: A Storybook Romance (Three Romantic Novellas)

They say a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but as mistaken identities abound, three heroines will put this age-old adage to the test! Showcasing a trio of LDS fiction’s finest authors, Love Unexpected: A Storybook Romance is a heartwarming collection of short stories that begs the question: can true love really conquer all?

Storybook Romance by Melanie Jacobson —New York City book editor Ellie Hanover has discovered a groundbreaking manuscript that may be just what she needs to save her job. But when her anonymous correspondence with the author begins to develop into more than a professional relationship, Ellie is left wondering if her real find is actually Mr. Right.

He Loves Me Notby Jennifer K. Clark —When Kenedee spies her boss leaving flowers on her desk, she’s swept into a whirlwind of infatuation. If only he didn’t have a girlfriend . . . Undeterred, the young woman enlists in the scheme her employer’s brother has put in motion for the company’s sake in hopes that she can win over the man of her dreams. But even foolproof plans can go awry.

Fools of Us All by Julie Daines —The course of true love is never smooth, as Jane discovers when a case of mistaken identity results in a date with the man she’s admired from afar for years. But she knows all too well that masquerading as her twin sister can only go on for so long before the truth comes out.

Today’s book is a three- in- one surprise.  There are three novellas by three different authors.  I’ll admit that the main draw for me was Melanie Jacobson’s story because I am the most familiar with her and her books.  I love them!  Her novella was my favorite but the others were really good too.  You’ll be hearing no complaints from me.

These books are right up my favorite fluffy alley.  Give me clean romance books that leave me happy in the end and I am in Heaven.  This book came in the mail and I opened it up and read it.  Just like that.  I couldn’t help myself.  This was a quick read and I finished up the whole book in a couple hours.  But I gave it some devoted time because I had some.  What I love about novella collections is that you can read them straight through or one here or there at your leisure.  It’s a win-win no matter your situation.

The Hunt for the Big Bad Wolf by E.M. Tippetts + Book Giveaway

Chloe knew she was giving up the quiet life when she married Hollywood A-lister, Jason Vanderholt. She expected harassment from paparazzi but not from the writers of Blood Ritual, a television crime drama that brought national attention to a tough case she is trying to solve as a forensic scientist. While she and the rest of the Albuquerque Police Department once collaborated with the show, now relations have gone sour, and details that the police are trying to keep secret in the investigation are cropping up in episodes watched by millions.

If that weren’t enough, everyone in Chloe’s life seems to be going through a rough patch, from her best friend, Lori, who is trying to plan a wedding, to her niece Kyra who is upset about Jason’s choice of television roles, to Jason himself who is inexplicably moody and withdrawn. None of this drama is the type of thing Chloe knows how to resolve.

She is trained to do one thing: hunt down the big bad wolves of the world. But with her connections to fame compromising her work, she may not even be allowed to stay on the case. The clock is ticking as law enforcement agencies across the country try to find a serial killer before he strikes again. Chloe is faced with a choice, to help catch one of the most evil criminals in history, or provide support to the friends and family who have always been there for her. Either way, she feels she might make the mistake of a lifetime.

I've been following this series from the beginning so I was excited to get my hands on this, the third book.  You really should read this series in order because it will make much more sense.  I don't think this is a stand alone book.

Chloe carries the weight of the world on her shoulders.  So many things are pressing down on her in this book and even I could feel the weight of it as a reader.  It seemed so overwhelming for poor Chloe.  She really is a trooper.  Her life has been difficult but it also taught her to put her head down and keep pushing through and that is exactly what she does.  I really like Chloe.  She is patient and she doesn't give up.  One thing that I really love about Chloe is that she doesn't let her insecurities rule her.  I wish I were more like that.

This book has a great forward movement.  It wasn't all action or danger but had a nice balance of personal interactions and scene shifts.  I really enjoyed it and I read through it like a speedster.  It was so satisfying to see and feel some resolution for Chloe by the end.  As a reader, I needed that.

Content:  mild swearing, some talk about and some scenes involving marital intimacies although nothing too detailed.

Suddenly, working on the project makes hanging out, texting, talking—and even high school—seem fun and completely normal when it’s anything but normal. *WHAT IF YOU KISS?* What if you kiss Ellen Foster and it’s perfect enough to make you believe in things you shouldn’t. You tell her secrets and share your dreams. You make the kinds of promises and create plans to be together that might be impossible to keep when you’re only sixteen and your parents control your entire future, but... WHAT IF YOU HURT HER?

Praise for How I Fall:
"How I Fall captures exactly how a high school crush feels. You can have endless long days—days that feel exactly the same—and then in one moment a little thing changes, a conversation finally happens, and suddenly there’s a new friend group formed where relationships are suddenly ‘on’! I loved this book (How I Fall) and I’ve already read the sequel, How I Fly as ARC. You will laugh, you will cry and you will fall so in love with Ellen and Cam’s story.” ~Becca H. Teen book blogger.

“Anne Eliot writes the sweetest first kisses. She also does those book boyfriends you can’t get out of your head. Cam Campbell in How I Fall doesn’t disappoint, nor does the awesome first kiss.” ~Judith, I Love YA Fiction, Blog

Of Fire and Ash by Amber Argyle (A Fairy Queens Novella)

One promise can change everything.

The fairies must never know of Nelay’s sight, for the attention of such dark and terrible creatures brings more things dark and terrible. But when Nelay's father is near death, the fairies are the only ones who can save him. All they require is a simple promise that she'll return the favor one day.

Some promises are lethal.
Well, I'm a day late to officially say that this is release day for this novella, but the day after is still close.  Like the day after Christmas is a fun day too, right?  :)

If you know Amber Argyle's writing and her books you know that she writes beautifully.  She has a style all her own that really stands out and for me, separates her from other authors.  This is a novella, short and sweet, about Nelay's early life.  What a hard life with hard choices.  It really sets the stage for the next book, Summer Queen, which I'm really looking forward to reading.  Especially since I've just read this little tidbit and I want more!  These are fairies like you've never know them.

If you are interested in reading my review for Winter Queen, the first book in this series, you can find that HERE.

How To Catch A Prince by Rachel Hauck

Prince Stephen came to America to escape responsibility. But what he found complicates his life more than ever.

Corina Del Rey is happy with her life in Melbourne, Florida. She spends her days engrossed in her career as a journalist and has her sights set on climbing the corporate ladder if for no other reason, to distract herself from her dissolving family. But when she is confronted with the past she fought so hard to put behind her, she struggles to make sense of her future.

Prince Stephen of Brighton Kingdom has moved on since the tragic death of his buddies in Afghanistan. A star professional rugby player, he has no intention of looking over his shoulder at what could've been.

But when a notice arrives in the mail requiring his and his wife s appearance before the courts to dissolve their marriage, he must deal with the questions rumbling around in his heart. He thought his marriage had been annulled long ago, but his memories of Corina Del Rey remain close. Does he still love her? Can he even find her? Above all, can he tell her the truth about that fateful night in Afghanistan seven years ago? If he does, he might really lose her forever.

Rachel Hauck is one of my favorite Christian Fiction authors.  I'm always looking to snatch up her newest, latest book.  I'm really loving this Royal Wedding Series and I think this one is my favorite so far.   The cover is gorgeous, don't you think?

I absolutely fell in love with Corina.  I love her fortitude and quiet, gentle strength.  I love her determination and her patience.  As she has fought her way back from a dark and hurtful place, she has become a thing of grace and beauty.

The one phrase in this book that is really the theme for Corina is "love well".  It really resonated with me and the phrase is still there, bouncing around in my thoughts and echoing through my heart.  How do I "love well"?  Am I loving well the people I come in contact with?  I love Corina's journey with the phrase "love well".

I love the romance here and the glimpses of Stephen's family that I have known in previous books.  I'm glad Stephen's story is finally here.  I've been waiting for this one and it did not disappoint.  I love this series!

My thanks to the publisher, Zondervan, via NetGalley for a review copy of this book.

  Excerpt:
I can’t believe I am here. I can’t believe I’m standing here, gazing lovingly at Jared, surrounded by our friends and family, on this amazing beach with this marvelous sunset, as we make these vows—these incredible, sure-to-make-you-cry vows—to each other. The colors are all muted, antique tones of pink, yellow, gold. My bouquet is practically bursting with soft pink roses. My makeup is not whorish, as my sister, Anna, would have preferred, and my hair is done in perfect, long curls, half pulled up with a small, antique jeweled clip. Simple. Understated. Exactly what I wanted. And then there’s my dress. My dress is spectacular. It’s timeless, really, just slightly off-white, an off-the-shoulder bodice with details of stunning Chantilly lace and a sweeping train. I heart it. I heart it all. Especially Jared. In his classic suit—none of that penguin stuff for him—he looks like something out of a style magazine. His pants and jacket are perfectly tailored, and he wears the antique pink tie just because I want him to. I glance over at my bridesmaids—my baby sister Anna and my dearest friend, Betsy Brown—gazing at us with bright smiles. Anna’s has an ever-so-slight look of jealousy, but I beam at them. This is the perfect day. My perfect day with Jared. “Do you, Jared Nathan Moody, take Julia Warner Dorning to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold from this day forward, until death do you part?” the officiant, dressed in white, asks Jared. “I do,” he says simply. “And do you, Julia Warner Dorning, take Jared Nathan Moody to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold from this day forward, until death do you part?” the priest asks. “I do,” I say as I stare into Jared’s eyes. His are filling up with tears, and I begin to well up too. “Then by the power that is vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wi—”

“JULIA! What the hell? What are you doing in my dress?” Anna’s screeching pulls me out of my fantasy. “Geez, I leave you alone in here for ten minutes, and you think it’s okay to put my wedding dress on? Mom! Tell her to take my dress off!” Anna stomps her foot in a ridiculous, childlike manner. My mom comes in the room just after Anna and puts her hand to her mouth. “Oh, Julia dear, what are you doing?” “Nothing! Geez, I was just seeing how it felt, that’s all. Stop pouting like you’re ten,” I say to Anna, who is practically throwing an adult version of a temper tantrum.
